Thread: Set me straight on this....

Default Set me straight on this....

A while back I paid the fee to become a seller+ lifetime. All seems to be well except I am being billed for final value fees. I might be misunderstanding the whole thing, but I thought the seller+ lifetime paid no fees. Can someone explain it to me? Thanks!

    Hi Welcome to eBid

You get charged for extras----like adding gallery--the fee for that is 2% of the sale price payable when you have sold the item

Go to myebid--->my fees-->then click on invoice and it will tell you what the fees were for

    Hope that helps

all your auctions have a gallery photo so that is a 2% FVF and 17 of your listings are featured, and that is an extra @ $1.00 (I think) every time you list or re-list the auction

I also signed up believing that there would be no fees attached to selling. But after plugging the numbers into Excel, 2% FVF isn't all that much money. Only a couple of cents really. A $49.99 item is only $1.00. So coming from the other auction site that charges up to 12% FVF it isn't all that bad. I say go for it and list that gallery photo.

As has been said... If as Seller+ you use the STANDARD (Free) listing format then there are no fees involved in selling on eBid whatsoever. If you use the GALLERY listing format to get the thumbnail displayed in search results then there is a 2% FVF on successful sale of the item.

You have to weigh up if the thumbnail image adds enough to the potential sale of the item to justify paying the fee for its inclusion in search results. Most sellers would appear to think it does.

All fees are laid out at: http://uk.ebid.net/help_money.php and it is best you read and understand when they become applicable.

I read the OP as thinking there would be no final selling fee with Seller+. If he chose gallery, it is 2% final fee, if he chose featured, it would be $1 with no final fee (and item is at top of page so gets more viewers)..

Given that with feebay we had listing fee + selling fee = at least 9%+ and a relisting fee, that is still a good deal. Relists are free (except for extras) and even extras are a bargain (extra category 5 cents , on feebay, $1).

Think of it this way, hurray! You sold something!!

A lot of people see the word FREE and become fixated on it and then become blind to any conditions that may apply. Though I do admit that eBid's phrasing could be clearer in some places.

I really don't mind paying the fees. I was just confused about the fvf's that showed up. I prefer the gallery listing, anyway. Wouldn't get much traffic with out it.

    Yes and yes. LOL

Although it does say that by moving up to Seller+Lifetime and pay no listing fees ever...it doesn't say final value fees. Listing fees are not final value fees. Even I had to do a double take on the wording.
