I was at RAF Halton having started my apprenticeship in the January of 69. We were originally told that we would not be allowed to watch the landing and first steps due to training and the obligatory 'to bed and lights out' in the early evening. Following a near mutiny over being not allowed to watch what would likely be the biggest event in our lifetime the PTB relented and we watched along with everyone else.
