    Default Problems With Exporting Listings

Hi, I am preparing to re-list all my existing auctions with a new template, to do this I have decided to use the export listings facility. This will mean that the preparation of the listings can be done off-line.

I have tried this function out before with no problem, it just transferred the data to an open office spreadsheet with no trouble. However this time it transfers the information onto a notepad document, which is totally un-useable. I have tried twice with the same results. Can anyone advise me as to where I am going wrong please?

Are you sure you are exporting in Bulk Uploader format and not in Google Base format. The Google Base format opens in Notepad on my system.

Hi astral, I am using the first option eBid bulk upload (all). The system has changed since I last used it (there was only one option then).

We are likely seeing different things as I don't have a store (not being Seller+). So I'll bow out and make room for someone who does run a store to come in and help.

    Good luck.

Yes it is calc HH, I tried that using the save to all files function but just got a blank notepad for my troubles. I've just had a thought I have recently re-installed everything on my computer after a virus; maybe I clicked a wrong button when downloading OO, as I also have problems accessing things that were written using the word programmes.

    Hiya,
I had the same problem before. Like HannahHolly says, you need to save your file as a .txt document. Hope that helps.

Hi artsbanquet, m yes I tried that, still get the results in notepad form.

I'll take you through the steps I took:

    1) click the top option of the two download options

    2) delete tsv and insert txt as the file extension

    3) click save option

    Hi,
I'm using Microsoft Excel, so I don't know if it works in the same way as OpenOffice, but here are the steps I take.

    1. click the top option of the two download options
    2. click on save file
    3. The downloads box pops up, right click to open the file in notepad
    4. type in .txt at the end of the file name. Save as type: text documents.txt, encoding ANSI
    5. open microsoft excel
    6. open the folder you saved the .txt file in
    7. where you see "files of type", click on all files
    8. open the file you saved
    9. the text import wizard should pop up
    10. Presss next, next, finish
    11. finally,. save in microsoft excel workbook

hope that helps. It used to save automatically in the past, don't know why we have to go through all this now.

Hi, when I presume that when I open the wordpad document I should select "save as" then all files. I then get a box asking to select one of the following:

    ANSI
    Unicode
    Unicode big endian
    UTF-8

Does anyone know which of these relate to Open Office please?
