Re: feedback wanted please
Cap looks good and will probably get some attention - This is something the owners should be doing but if they let you go ahead It could work out well
-
Re: feedback wanted please
I'm not sure about how QR codes work, am I right to think they're something to do with mobile phones?
As I don't have a shop on ebid would it be possible for you to produce one that takes the buyer either to a particular seller or their items?
I always put a note in parcels that have been bought elswhere, telling the buyer about my listings on ebid and anything that might get them here quicker and with less hassle would be worth trying. So I'd certainly be interested in professionally produced leaflets that could be added to my parcels, even if they can't be tailored specifically to my items or username.

Re: feedback wanted please
customer scans qr code with scan app on phone and it takes them direct via browser etc to one of listed below...
1.profile
2.shop
3.listings
4.mobile number
you have 1 option on leaflet
saves them typing url or phone number etc or having to search for you
yes it can go to your listings if you dont have a shop
eg of mine below takes you to my listings not shop :o

Re: feedback wanted please
Sorry to be so ignorant, would I need to get this App. for it to work for buyers?
-
Re: feedback wanted please
no the buyers should have any scan app on there phone already if not they download it free in minutes from google playstore or apple store
so you don't need it
most youngsters use it already as high st stores, clubs and restaurants do offers using qr codes these days ;)

Re: feedback wanted please
Thanks for that :), I must try to keep up :o
I'll look out for your ad. for those as well, if you get enough interest to get some printed.
I know the boards have been quieter lately, but I thought there would have a little more interest than so far??
-
Re: feedback wanted please
no problem glad to help and you could be my only customer lol mabe do them by appointment like them posh shops
yes not a lot of interest but am optimistic
might take a bit of pushing to convince some members they need to help ebid and get the rewards later before its too late
me id rather help than keep filling the big boys pockets who squeeze the small sellers
had 3 orders book/dvd/vhs tape last week on another big platform and i ended up owing them money for the privileged -no joke
id been better off giving to charity
lets just hope members wake up , see the big picture and get involved.

Re: feedback wanted please
You may yet be surprised. Something I've noticed about the boards here is that although the number of "active" members is small, threads are often read widely but without comment. The "regulars" may not be interested, or are perhaps on holiday? Fingers crossed that when your ad. appears (Don't forget the Plug Your Auction thread) some sales will come from the "Lurkers" that are never heard from. Just don't go overboard until you get some idea of what will be required :) You don't want to get stuck with thousands of them!!
Frankly I'm surprised at the response (or lack of) to your posts. For example there has been a regularly revived thread about Ebid Parcel Tape, asking The Management to start selling it again and there has been mention of other promotional stuff that used to be available. Yet here we are with car stickers (hopefully) about to become available and hardly any support, or even comments from those who don't think they would be effective.
I totally agree with you about the big boys and how they run their sites and don't want ebid to go down the route of high fees which supposedly support advertising, increasing site visibility and so increasing sales for all.
I simply don't think it's true.
IMO all pay the increased fees but most of the benefit is seen by businesses with recognised brands or thousands of items. Small sellers, particularly of one-off items, get very little in return for paying the higher fees, their buyers don't see what they are looking for mentioned on expensive national ads. aimed at the mass market. They find their way here by different routes.
Please keep us informed as your ideas go forward :)

Re: feedback wanted please
They arrived safely on Saturday and have stuck two on the passenger windows for pedestrians. The third will go on the rear window (when I have time to get all the junk out of the way!)
Gave the windows a quick wash to remove dust and any sticky finger prints. No problem getting them to stick, one biggish bubble I burst with a pin. (Hope that's a good idea?)
I like the size, big enough to be seen by passers-by but not blocking the view for passengers and the orange stood out well on the blackness of the window when the sun came out.
I don't really know about the price of window stickers these days, but @ £2.50(ish) they seem reasonable to me.
I hope you do well and sell lots and I look forward to seeing them in local car parks and traffic jams!

Re: feedback wanted please
great :) glad it arrived safely yes pin idea is ok for bubbles or peal back and redo area is ok too and using lightly soaped water helps remove bubbles before applying.
price can be reduced if more members get on board so i can order bigger qty from printers but still competitive at what they sell ATM as not cheap vinyl like most.
mabe post a pic of yours to use on listing if your ok doing ?
glad size is good as think its a balance between price and not being too big or intrusive on members cars.
and appreciate the feedback and support lets hope it takes interest :D

Re: feedback wanted please
A couple of pictures attached, if they're of use to you I'm happy for you to use them.
I didn't think of using soapy water to prevent bubbles, I had a vague idea that the soap might make them less likely to stick. (Lowers surface tension?)

Re: feedback wanted please
Excellent. Did you know you can bump your Plug thread at regular intervals to keep it visible? Off hand I can't remember if you can bump once a day / once a week?
-
Re: feedback wanted please
Hi again, I hope sales of your stickers are going well. Have you decided whether or not to go ahead with some A5 leaflets?

I see these codes for scanning with iphones.
How do you actually create a QR code?

What a great idea!
It is easy enough to create a QR code to link to an url of your store. A google search will guide you through the process of how to do it - but it would be something you would best do individually... I can't forsee eBid doing it for you.
best luck!

Re: feedback wanted please
I'm genuinely shocked at how few car stickers you sold (if FB is anything to go by). I thought a semi-permanent, mobile advert for the price of a cup of coffee(?) was good value and they would fly off your shelves. My mistake and I'm sorry to have encouraged you. My apologies.
I thought that any sellers doing even passably well here would invest a little in the chance to make the site a bit more visible with some "Speculate to accumulate" attitude? But evidently not.
At least you and a few others did try and sadly I suppose it shows that membership involvement can't be relied on to support any similar attempts in the future.
A wasted opportunity IMO and one that The Management may take note of when contemplating the "Raise fees and advertise" question?

I haven't purchased any for the following reasons:
I don't drive
I have access to a printer, so can print off signs myself for my windows in my house
I can print off an a4 piece of paper with a few "eBid.net" logo's, to be cut into strips that I can then use when packaging a box etc... by using clear parcel tape
So maybe the reason they haven't flown off the shelves is that others do what i'm doing.

Re: feedback wanted please
My comments were definitely not directed at any one seller, or even any group of sellers. Apologies if they seemed to be.
My over-estimation of how popular they would be was based on something I quite often see on the boards. Only a few comments by active members but many more "Views" of a topic. I assumed that although only a few replied, whether for or against the idea, many more might be bought by those who never get into the discussion. As I write the Views of this thread are 1454. Even if half the viewers didn't like the idea or had no car to put a sticker in, but didn't like to say so, I mistakenly thought that there was the possibility of at least several hundred sales.

Re: feedback wanted please
I don't drive and also believe the owners of the site should do more to get the site seen not to mention add more payment options etc.
It is a great idea but IMO and it's hard to explain but the sellers pay a fee and expect those fee's to be used for upgrades on the site and advertising of some sort
Visual references like the car stickers which are great by the way will definitely be bringing a few extra visitors and as I've said before I only found this site years ago due to the tape they used to have.
I'm afraid sellers are already putting enough work into getting visitors here but are the efforts worth it? I think my sales here have grown a little, but I've had lots of non-payers which is probably due to lack of payment options, So lack of footfall and non-payers do make you put less effort in since most of us are here to make a living

Don't worry, I didn't take it personally, was just giving my reasons to the topic.
As for the views on the thread, are they per individual views per person including multiple times visited, or are they the number of unique individuals who have viewed.
I assume they are the first one, but I could be totally wrong as I don't know how they collate the figures.
-
Re: feedback wanted please
Thanks.
I think you might be right about multiple views, I assumed they were individual views but now have reason to doubt that. 1425 might be individual views as the thread was started months ago, but I find it rather more hard to believe that [I]another[I] 157 individual views have happened in the last couple of days as the total now stands at 1611 !
