Re: Page layout is awful.
i have to admit to rarely reading descriptions unless I need to know more about the item. I read the title, the price and the postage and usual make my decision to buy or not based on these. On all sites not just ebid. means i have had some lemons but thats life

It is too unorganised, so they toddle off back to ebay, and in the case of people who use Etsy - who are probably design minded - ebid's page layout doesn't stand a chance of keeping their attention.
Default is not great admittedly, but what I like about ebid is the freedom to format listings.
I can use html make a listing that looks good to me.
Re: Page layout is awful.
I would get rid of the "Start Time", and " End time", and replace both with "Time left to run".
As a buyer, I don't care when it was listed, I just want to know how long it has yet to run.
In fact, I can't think why anybody would be interested in when it was listed - its only purpose is to have a time from which the end time can be deducted, to work out how long it has to run.
Re: Page layout is awful.
Get rid of views!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only allow views to be seen by the seller!!
I consider showing views as extremely misleading to lookers.
This site is like a new site with mgt learning as they go... problem is they been here over 12 Years !!

It's great that we have so much freedom to format our descriptions, but I (and I am sure others) have to press the PgDn key 5 times to get past the page clutter and disjointed white space in order to see sellers' description's,
After 10 years here, I am used to the site, so take it in my stride - it is the new buyers we so need to attract here that I am concerned will turn away; especially as current web design is leaning towards a cleaner, uncluttered look more suited to smaller mobile devices.
Re: Page layout is awful.
If I owned ebid
1 API
2 Android mobile App
3 Apple mobile app
4 Registration system - complete overhaul
5 Lower seller joining fee
6 Work on listing page layout - move the pics higher up, get rid of all the clutter

I think the small screen is very important.
Using a large screen format on a PC, as I do, is the preference of older users.
Re: Page layout is awful.
I quite like the current format. Better than a certain site where you have to click to see postage and payment detail.
However, I do think repeating the photo at the top is unnecessary. If the main photo(s) were moved up below "Payment Methods" as the only photo it would be much better. At the moment there is a big empty gap between "Payment Methods" and the photo.

The opening page does not give the best information.
Attachment 43370
- Meet the seller is fine, but only after Description of Product
- The statistics could be helpful, but not to many.
I think description is higher priority
