Who do you think pays for E**y's advertising? It is sure not the stockholders. It is sure not the CEO. It is the sellers and the buyers indirectly.
Exactly.
BTW: Just made another sale. IMHO eBid does work, it just takes some time, personal promo and patience.
Best wishes for many sales to all,

That's not a real tough question and the answer is....members. Sellers initially pay which get's filtered to the buyers. ebay hasn't advertised in years they are not using the ridiculous fees for advertising however if they do falter another ad campaign will bring them right back up.
I don't have exact figures for what $$$ amount totals are from our 4 million items but if we increased or listings/sales to let's pull a number out of a hat $10,000,000.00 per month the existing final value fee totals $200,000.00. If we increase sales to a more realistic number of 2 million items sold per month at an average sell price of only $50.00 thats 100 million in sales and 2 million in fees. At our current state (lack of sellers in a lot of categories) I'm afraid selling 1 million items at $2.00 will only net $40,000 in final value fees so in this case volume due to advertising will pay off. Whether or not eBid can take the initial hit is something we don't know but without sales there is no funds for advertising without advertising we remain with sales and slow growth as experienced in the past. It's just a matter of what eBid is looking for and how fast.

Perhaps those that want the advertising campaign should start a fund and they can take donations for eBid.
I personally do not want to contribute be either donation or raised fees.

I suppose thats the answer, for people selling the odd thing every so often for pin money things are just great.
But I've been on the site for over twelve years and the growth is pretty dismal,as a serious selling platform it simply hasn't made the grade.
If ebid don't have money for advertising after being up and running this length of time they probably never will have.

You could always donate your winnings of $3,000 for the good of the site.

Re: Ebid and advertising.
I think advertising would be a good thing. We are now advertising on Facebook and I would be happy with 4% Final Value Fees if it gets more sellers and buyers over here
Re: Ebid and advertising.
You have to remember that eBid was exclusively for the UK market for many years and it's success grew steadily. Now it has opened up worldwide, USA being open for around 3.5 years now and other countries added later. I can well believe that many UK'ers have heard of eBid, but it will take some work to spread the word in the other countries. Don't forget Facebook and Youtube - 2 very powerful engines to use.

Fortunately/Unfortunately advertising is not up to us members but up to eBid. If the sales were here there would be no need for increased fees, donations or contributions. Just more sales and after 12 years or so the growth isn't as tremendous as thought.
