Hi, welcome to eBid and the Forum :)
Tips (a light hearted approach) :

Astral's thread for New Users:

My first sale, about a month.
Footfall improving.
Taking time to get to know how to make eBid work for you will pay off in the longer term.
Have fun! :D

Howdy, Kountry!! Glad you are here!! Please be sure to list some Texas Sunshine for those of us who lack vitamin D.
Check out the help button, top right of any page, then look on the left for FAQ's and videos...esp the one about listing and selling. Gives the do's and don'ts of the site.
Good luck!
Re: hello everyone, im a newbie, just wanted to say hi
I joined Sat 24 Oct 2009 and my first sale was Sat 14 Nov 2009. I'm pretty sure it was through the 'Plug Your Auctions' thread so you might want to try that too.

Hello Kountrygirl!
I took a look at your items and you have all of them on RunTilSold and the common advise here is to list them for 7-10 days with 10 auto relist so they will rise to the top of the searchs. RTS stay at the bottom. Do a search for something and you will see how it works. Also use your titles wisely by stating what the item is and adding as many descriptive words as will fit.
Good luck and come back here if you run into something that you need help with.

Kountry...just looked at a couple listings. As has been said above, you will benefit from MORE words in your titles. Like your boots. You have two words, neither of which mean anything to me. (ok, I'm a bit slow and ignorant on the latest footwear....but I like those quirky boots!!). I would look for Boots, be sure to put the size in the title. Maybe put manufacturer. Maybe a description of color or design. People do a lot of searches just by using a few words sometimes, so if I were looking for Western Style Tall Decorated Boots Size 8, I would not find yours.... Just sayin'! Read through some of the forum posts about selling, listing, key words, etc, and you will find a lot of helpful info. xo
Re: hello everyone, im a newbie, just wanted to say hi
Welcome Kountrygirl :)
I myself just opened my store 2 days ago. I'm nervous as well because I came from a place that I was at for 4 years. Starting over here...Yikes!!
Re: hello everyone, im a newbie, just wanted to say hi
Hello all you new members, a huge welcome to eBid from me.xxxx
Glad you have joined us.
All I can say is that I was a power seller on feepay and then I found eBid.
Firstly - I just could not believe that for a measly sum of £49.99 eBid would give me LIFETIME of free listings!
Oh, instead of 10% fee on listings and postage, eBid only takes 2% on FVF if item sells.
(No fees charged for listing or postage )
Holy smoke! Where else could you get this brilliant offer - but - not only that - you get to open and manage 5 shops - all fee free!
I dived in, I came here primarily as a seed seller, but adapted myself and branched out - as seeds weren't selling too well here.
Well, as you can see by my feedback (all earned from eBid - none imported) I have done well.
At least here we can see a better profit, and keep a lot more from our selling fees than elsewhere.
So - GO FOR IT!
Please be sure to read Astral's help guide which is invaluable and will answer most of your questions -
or simply ask a question here in the forum and someone will be along shortly to help you out.
Good Luck to all

Hi and welcome to Ebid, please take the advice given, you have to work harder than ebay BUT you WILL get sales my feedback is ALL from ebid :D
Re: hello everyone, im a newbie, just wanted to say hi
Welcome to eBid.
Just three words to help you Keywords, Google and Keywords. Okay that was only two with keywords repeated, but that is because keywords are vital. As has been said get more into your titles. We do not have the footfall of eBay or Amazon (yet!), so to get your items seen by new buyers means them finding you, and Google is most peoples starting point. To get seen on there they need to be searching for as many of the keywords in you title as possible.
example:
"anne geddes down in the garden"
I would list as:
"Anne Geddes Down In The Garden Hardback Book Cedco Publishing 1996 VGC"
The main keyword you are missing is book as there are other Anne Geddes Down In The Garden products, if there are they will probably push your item down the result pages of a search. Also adding hardback will put you above anybody who does not have that keyword included.
I searched for "anne geddes down in the garden" and the first thing I thought was that your item is very expensive, but on closer inspection the others are paperback. Adding hardback to the search not only reduces the number shown on the search but also puts yours closer in price to the opposition, making it more likely to get views and a sale.
Use capitals where appropriate as it looks more professional.
A moot point with some people, but I also think that price can help. The FVF's on eBid are 8% lower, then there are other fees that also make eBid cheaper to sell on. For that reason when I moved from eBay I dropped my prices by 5%, that gives customers an incentive to buy, and it still leaves me with a higher margin, a win win situation.
The sales can be made on eBid but you have to be a little smarter than the opposition. Hope you can join the band who get those sales on a regular basis, stick with it until you find what works for you.
