Re: Page layout is awful.
On this thread. lets stick to page layout issues
Re: Page layout is awful.
Don't think it is too bad, all the relevant information can be seen at the top of the page. But I would move the description above the image as the image is already in view, so they can see an image, price, shipping, feedback, closing time and buy button straight off. If they are interested I would have the full description followed by larger image. But agree totally that the white space needs to be sorted as it makes things very untidy.
Re: Page layout is awful.
Whatever way it is done
title,
picture,
and enough space for at least first paragraph of description needs to be on first page.
I think the mock up I have done shows the three spatial areas well, being
pic - info
Description
and all on first page
Buyers need to be engaged in the thing they have come here for in the first instant after clicking on the link.
Once they are engaged, then they can look at the other relevant detail.
Re: Page layout is awful.
I agree
The Item page is Terrible.
The first thing a buyer wants to see is a photo
Then a description
Not where its available and the postage details
Re: Page layout is awful.
I have to disagree with you all - I quite like the page layout.
Re: Page layout is awful.
There is never going to be complete agreement, of course. Different people have different preferences. That said, I think eBid's page layout is just fine.
Re: Page layout is awful.
First impressions count.
We all know that people only stay on a page fot a few seconds unless it interests them.
I can't believe that 2 people think the present layout is OK ?
Ebid's sales result sort of prove that its not great.
Why not try a different layout for a year and see if sales increase ?
Re: Page layout is awful.
Not sure what comes up for you when you look at an item. For me, the 1st thing on the page is the picture followed by the price ... that's as far as many people go.
The rest of the page could be cleaner and utilize the space better, but don't really think it is a deal breaker for a buyer. Plus, if it's a matter of resources, would rather have the design time spent on the mobile app.

Spot on. Picture, price and total shipping charge. When I'm browsing those are the first things I want to see. And I don't want to have to use a drop down list to see what the postage charge will be, especially since I live in the United States which is going to be at the end of the list.
