Anyone been to Koh Samui, Thailand?
We have a family wedding to attend on Koh Samui in January 2016, and just wondered if anyone else had been there and could recommend a package deal/travel company?
Prices look horrendous from what I've seen so far - doesn't help that the wedding is in a 5-star beach resort which we can't afford to stay at!

Haven't been for a while: but about 10 times I would guess - usually for a month at a time taking a break from the wilderness.
I don't do package holidays though. Just book a flight and sort out the accommodation on your own either before or after you arrive.
Koh Samui can be extremely cheap or extremely expensive, depends on how you arrange it.

- I got a really cheap flight with Malaysian airlines, change planes in Kuala Lumpur. That was just before they started losing planes.
- I would not get a package because there is not enough control over accommodation.
- Cheapflights.co.uk to check out flights. Consider Airasia.com if you want connecting flights from Bangkok or KL.
- Agoda.com or Asiarooms.com, local specialists to get a cheap hotel.
- I don't use Expedia any more because every time I use them I get bumped off flights and onto later ones. (Had 4 bumps on one flight from Los Angeles to Mexico City and arrived nearly a day late because Air Mexico treated Expedia bookings as lowest priority.)
