Hi all , not sure how many people here are members of ebay also , but have a look at the COMMUNITY boards...where the pinks have left a message...
looks like the sellers are going to riot because ..THEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED to leave feedback for BUYERS...other matters also causing problems...
ebid might score out of this carry on...
have fun reading.....Papa.

what are the pinks?
minx41
30th January 2008, 10:07 AM
The Pinks are the guys and gals who are SUPPOSED to help run ebay and are SUPPOSED to help solve problems, the reason they are called pinks is because their post titles are highlighted in pink.

I will be stopping selling on eBay because of this feedback change
Well, I think that’s a bit of an over-reaction, given that many sellers have had hundreds or thousands of sales and never felt the need to leave a neg. It’s also worth noting that the only other viable online marketplace also doesn’t allow sellers to leave feedback for buyers, so if it’s that critical to your online selling strategy then you’ll be a bit stuck.
wineoclock36
30th January 2008, 10:34 AM
Thats one of their answers to a seller?
Which is the only viable online market place they are mentioning?#

Oh dear, feebay seem to be ignoring me again. :(
My post hasn't been deleted and they haven't emailed me. :D
I was going to start listing on your site again next month. However, after the latest massive fee hike, I will just list my new stock on eBid instead. I pay nothing to list on eBid, nothing for a gallery photo, only 2% fvf AND I can accept Google Checkout. Oh, yes, and going by my November and December sales when I listed on both sites, my items have a better chance of actually SELLING on eBid too.

actually ebid, tazbar , bootbay and the others have been mentioned on the ebay q&a board a lot over the last couple of days, pinks are not quite so sensitive as they used to be about the mention. Simply because they are confident in the knowledge, sadly , that there really is no competition. I wish there was. But it needs sellers AND BUYERS to defect in droves and i simply cannot see that happening.
wineoclock36
30th January 2008, 12:38 PM
But if the sellers leave and come to ebid, the buyers wont have anything to buy and will have to come here!
Also, alot of sellers on ebay are buyers also.........I was.
I think they should watch out personally as they are about to loose lots of seller.
CM - keep it going!

I used to be a big eBay seller but after the row over a year ago about area limitations, and their excessive fees, I switched to eBid totally. I only list about 4 items per month on eBay now, as opposed to approx. 800 a month previously!
If they remove the option for sellers to leave feedback for buyers then they are going down a sticky route. Their argument is, from their boards, that Amazon don't have buyer feedback so why should eBay. They forget that eBay is supposed to be a community - Amazon, if I understand it correctly, is simply a selling place.
They have lost the plot totally IMO!! More power to eBid's elbow I say so eBid should brace themselves for more sellers!! And, hopefully , more buyers if those buyers are also sellers!!

ebid has been mentioned alot over there in the threads, some posts have been pulled but alot still remain.
i only sell in the summer and winter but i did do ok xmas 2006 on here and made more money than on ebay as by the time you pay fees to ebay/paypal id just about breakfree but onhere i was up.
there are lots of new changes now over there and one that i just found out was you can only except paypal for game consoles. i put my daughters used psp up for sell and didnt want to use paypal but they wouldnt let me list unless i clicked paypal for my only payment option.
at the end of the day i should be allowed to leave neg/neut when its needed and offer payments that i prefer.
its just to much a headache now over there with all this carp going on.

I must have read your post before it got pulled.
Were you a regular poster?
I joined ebid today after reading about it on those posts.
I see they take paypal here.
I think that there will be a big influx of new members soon, and that can only mean ebid will get bigger and better.
Well, off to have a good look round.

It looks to me with the new pricing structure and the feedback issue they want to get rid of the small sellers.
sdk
30th January 2008, 03:29 PM
It's my belief that that's been their aim for quite some time. eBid seems perfectly placed to pick up the pieces. Possibly wishful thinking, but I just hope that eBid has the capacity to absorb a (hopefully large) influx.
Of course the downside to smaller sellers moving to eBid will be that the 'migrants' may well include the scammers that are (in my view) the reason why eBay wants to concentrate on the larger sellers in the first place.
kengillam
30th January 2008, 03:39 PM
But it is the small sellers that make up the buyers, I can't see Powersellers just selling and buying amongst themselves. If all the small sellers boycott the place both selling and buying that's what will hit them hard.

silly question but I take it something like the seller + 7 means you have the ability to get those benefits for 7 days from selecting that option - is that correct, after that you become a normal buyer again
PS very impressed with that pricing structure a lot less complicated than ebay and a lot cheaper!!

Remember all the subscriptions except lifetime are recurring.
You would need to downgrade your account at the end of 7 days to stop the debit. I doubt very much that you'll get a fair view of ebid in 7 days - especially if you're have no feedback?
EBID is not an ebay clobne and it does requyire different selling tactics. I find ebid compares closer with amazon where you need to list in volume to get regular sales. There are hundreds of threads giving tips on succesful selling here if you want them.
Sadly we often see new sellers who come over with no feedback. do nothing to promote themselves, list one or two items for a few days then complain they've not sold anything  EBID IS worth investing in (especially with the expanding global market) but it's not a money tree :p

Hi, welcome to eBid
& the answer to your question is No, it's not a trial, it's a recurring subscription.
If you upgrade to the Seller+ option, for any length other than lifetime, you WILL be charged at the interval you selected until you downgrade yourself to Seller or Buyer.
A basic Seller account, costs nothing to list & only a 3% fvf, with no minimum charge, (so you don't get stung on lower priced goods the way you do on some sites). If you want more options as a Seller, you can list a Platinum Auction, this does have a listing fee of 5p.
I guess it depends on what your normal:eek: feebay fees are, but the Seller+ lifetime is an excellent investment, considering you can have up to 5 free stores.
If you do try one of the shorter subscription lengths first, what you have paid for them is deducted from the Seller+ Lifetime if you choose to upgrade to it.
eBid also look after their members in that, IF they make changes to the seller levels, existing members get to upgrade for either free or a very minimal cost.

If you go to 'User CP' (just under the small eBid button) there's a bit where you can keep track of threads you're interested in. That's also the place to go to add a signature to your posts so we can see what you're offering when you get some listings started.

Wishful thinking, but you never know, this may be one step too many, even for the big knuckleheads at ebay to carry off, sellers will only take so much, and they are really being pushed to the limits.

You know, for myself (being purely selfish for a moment), it doesn't really matter if sellers flock here or not. I'm doing pretty well, sales wise, I'm quite happy having limited competition. Buyers can obviously find me and some of them seem to be very pleased with the very low p&p etc. I can afford to charge.

Are there any buyers here?
Yes, there are buyers here and the site's getting busier all the time. Don't just take my word for it, though. Check out the feedback of some of these sellers (or mine) as proof, and remember, not all buyers leave feedback.

1,722 - minkyrra
1,495 - sat246
1,368 - paz4eva
1,311 - paulas500*
Those figures were correct as of 31/12/07 and only show feedback gained on eBid. Sexywolfy and paulas500 have feedback scores significantly higher than shown on the list as it used to be possible to import feedback from other sites. Sorry, this is no longer possible.

Absolutely, many buyers don't leave feedback. Of the last 95 sales showing on my 'My eBid' 48 haven't left feedback. Hopefully I'll get some from sales over the last few days so it will improve slightly.

well, i do believe that this has to be Ebays final nail in the coffin. I have still been selling the odd item over there, but certainly not for much longer. In the past I have had a few non paying buyers and neg'd them accordingly. How can it be so one sided?
Anyway, as far as Ebid are concerned, it can only get better for us all. I have also sold a couple of items here & currently have a bid on one of my items too!

Hi there!
I've been selling on ebay since June 2005. They have gone too far this time, I'm totally appalled and disgusted with how they treat their clients, namely the seller, I've had enough. I took the plunge and closed my store after 2.5 years. I've spent this past week 'lurking' around this site and especially the forums to get a feel of this site. It feels very friendly to me :o)
I finally took the plunge and joined up here today and have spent some time navigating this site. So far I like what I see :o) Been getting acquainted with the tools available. I registered as a buyer but will be upgrading as a seller later on today.

I have spent a few hours or so listing and have uploaded around 300 items since the Ebay news and listed none on Ebay.
I will also be closing shop on ebay as items in the shop run out in 10 days.
I have lots more to list and I hope this time Ebid really does get busy and stay busy as this is the far better auction site as its friendly and treats sellers and buyers very well.

I have been an Ebay member since Oct 2004 and have had an Ebay shop for the last year and a half, maintaining a stock of about 800 items. Last March with the feedback changes I felt quite fed up, had a look around here and decided against it. This time with all the changes (including no more feedback for buyers a change in fee structure, powersellers have to register as a business and display there address on every listing), I have had enough.
In spite of maintaining the high stock, many items are at low values and by the time I paid Ebay and Paypal fees there isn't much left over.
I "defected" two days ago and have jumped in at the deep end, taking out a lifetime subscription. I have already listed 60+ items and will continue to do so and really build up my listings.
I just hope it is going to work out for me. I am a newbie here and must start looking around for some items to buy in order to get some feedback.

I just hope it is going to work out for me. I am a newbie here and must start looking around for some items to buy in order to get some feedback.
good idea on the buying also put a signature on the bottom of your posts you will find help around here look in user cp at top on left handside under the buy button
good luck

I have been an Ebay member since Oct 2004 and have had an Ebay shop for the last year and a half, maintaining a stock of about 800 items. Last March with the feedback changes I felt quite fed up, had a look around here and decided against it. This time with all the changes (including no more feedback for buyers a change in fee structure, powersellers have to register as a business and display there address on every listing), I have had enough.

Hello
I have spent a few hours or so listing and have uploaded around 300 items since the Ebay news and listed none on Ebay.
I will also be closing shop on ebay as items in the shop run out in 10 days.
I have lots more to list and I hope this time Ebid really does get busy and stay busy as this is the far better auction site as its friendly and treats sellers and buyers very well.
I have uploaded up to the 29th of Jan; my shop subscription is due on the 16th of the month, so I suppose I will let it run till early March and then close down.

Too funny minnie50000 :) - good for you onlinegifts. I kinda felt strange and nervous when I closed my store yesterday, my finger was shaking on the 'unsubscribe' button for some time before I finally got the courage and took the plunge, but today I feel quite enlightened and more relaxed. I guess it's because I don't fear all the fees fees fees and more fees I don't have to pay out anymore.

left link on the blue bar at the top of the forum, from there you can choose to add a sig, or avatar, you can also choose the format of the forum message editor,

just remember you need to put a little more effort into selling on here so don`t think you`ll make millions in a few weeks there are tips on how to do this but for a few quid you get life time membership list as much as you want and just do a little work to help your sales each day and sit back and relax :D

Hi Merlin,
No worries, I have no illusions about the millions. I work very hard getting my name out there to the public. Business cards, leaflets, flyers, internet, emails..... anything I can think of, legally of course.
OK I have been working half the night trying to get 4 listings running and they don't show up in my store, it keeps saying no auctions listed. I checked that my store is online etc. I'm worn out, don't know what I'm doing wrong. I clicked on the 'Add stock by listing auctions in the normal way' link to start my listings once I created my store.
They show up in my 'Auctions I'm running' list.
Help :(

Aw, you should know better then that.
Ages ago, I mentioned Ebid in an existing thread and i soon got slapped (my posting id was only a few days old at that point)
BTW, what is your (posting) id over there? I won't feel offended if u don't want to let know.
Who knows, we might have had arguments over there.

They may be pulling posts about eBid over there, but some of them are getting through--that's how I found it. I've been an Ebay buyer and seller for over 10 years and finally just got fed up. I keep getting the feeling that the smaller sellers like me who helped build the company to begin with are no longer welcome there. A few other sites are getting mentioned over there but so far eBid looked the most promising to me.

Hello and welcome to all the new folks!
I came over here when they hiked the shop fees last year. I found it hard to sell here at first. I must admit I have listed just a few items here, because the shop on feebay was selling quite a bit. This latest round of fee hikes and feedback nonsense has made me come here again and list even more. I will certainly be adding to the list on a regular basis from now on.
I have 7 sales so far, having listed only 200+ items in one category. I have to do a lot more work here before I get a reasonable income, but it will pay off! It took time to get started over there too, so I didn't expect it to be easy here either. My lifetime membership is going to be the best investment I ever made :D

Good for you, I totally agree. I don't know if it's any encouragement but I came over first at the same time you did. Obviously I stuck around and listed and listed. See the difference in feedback (sales are more like 400+ but feedback often isn't left). You will also see me at the top of the Buddy points table for the first time ever today (unless I've been overtaken by Nykmedia in the last half hour). O.K. 400+ sales isn't that many in the time but many other sellers have done much better than me. Persistence really pays off!
Oh yes, I should add, I've seen a real accelaration in sales since Christmas. Other sellers I've spoken to say the same.
