South coast of UK for me, so I guess it's winter in Oz at the moment, though I presume winter is not quite the same as here.

gross.

I live in a village about five miles outside of Maidstone. Which is in Kent in the South East of England.

The village has a claim to fame, being the site of the first ever custard pie throwing championship in the Uk.

:D

Local sites of interest are Leeds Castle and Cobdown dogging site

not many people probably want to

I have been corrected since putting that up, apparently its was home to the first ever World Custard Pie Throwing Competition.

I think it is held in Mote Park in Maidstone now.

Most folks know where I am 'cos it's in my store name - Wigtown, Scotland's national book town in the south west corner. Lovely and sunny here right now and all the info you need on www.wigtown.info (http://www.wigtown.info) which is a non-commercial information based website.

Pembrokeshire is beautiful

:)

Yes I know of snodland, and when I first heard of the place it used to make me laugh. not really sure why now though, laughs.

I live fairly close to a village called Loose, where they have loose womens bowling clubs etc.

I am not a member

:D

There used to be a web site that would bring up all weird place names near you, so I believe you Yvonne!

Oh and rednosty, I was joking about Yalding. Three rivers meet in the village so it floods a fair amount. It also floods after heavy snow.

I lived there for a few years but above the flood line.

As for better areas near Maidstone... well, depends on how close you are looking to the town centre and like everywhere, there are good and bad parts.

Price range varies quite a bit too. Properties tend to be more expensive to buy in Maidstone than Medway, but less expensive than Sevenoaks and Tonbridge areas. So a few miles either way from here can make a fair difference

Sorry to bore everyone with that

:D

Feel free to pm me Red if you want a local opinion on any particular part or village near here.
