No, although I often get annoyed by smokers who do smoke in non smoking areas.

Until 8 days ago I was a 50 - 60 cigarettes a day girl. So it wasn't that I was a non smoker being annoyed by smokers. I was a smoker annoyed about the lack of consideration of other smokers for those that don't. And if I can't smoke in certain places, and am willing to respect that, I don't see why other smokers cannot.

I am now struggling to give up the habit with the help of 24 hour nicotine patches, and I can tell you it is hard going ... for some funny reason the 2nd week is proving to be harder than the first.

Keep at it- you will suceed if you really want to!!

Well done for sticking with it fr so long. I found that I was missing having something to do, so I took up knitting. My boys have some gorgeous hats, thanks to my long-gone habit and a little help from Debbie Bliss :-D

WTG Tycoon! I have failed miserably on every attempt to quit.

And no, I wouldn't use that phoneline, and I can't see it being used. The vast majority of smokers are respectful enough to refrain from smoking where it isn't permitted, so the point of the "hotline" is beyond me.
And yes, I am still anti-ban.

Thanks for the encouragement folks.

I find that my hands are busy enough - I'm either on the computer listing on feebay or ebid, processing orders, etc., cleaning house or something, so that is not a problem. The problem is that I find I miss having something in my mouth!! So I bought one of those nicotine filters but don't put the filter in and chew on it most of the day just so that I don't end up putting food, sweets etc in my mouth instead and end up with a weight problem as opposed to a nicotine one ...

As a non smoker who gets INFURIATED by people smoking in enclosed spaces or in my face you would presume i would GRASS, but thats something i just dont like to do.

I would rather tell the person, make a comment etc to the person , in their ear shot so they knew i had an issue with it.

If i go into a smoking area of a bar, public place then i can hardly complain but if im in a specifc non smoking area damn right ill say something.

But i would leave the Grassing to those more inclined ( some peeps do it for fun , dont ya know ) ;)

I am going to be giving up again after I have finished this lot off. I will not be using the 24 hour ones. I used them before, and they stopped me from sleeping. So this time I will be using the ones you put on when you get up, and take off before you go to bed.

Good luck to you. And remember that a craving only lasts a few minutes, so you just have to be strong. .......... I hope I do better than 5 months this time. lol

This is a subject very close to my heart just now, as it was lung cancer which killed my mother.

For those of you who have given up smoking - WELL DONE, you have done something very important for both you and your families.

For those of you considering giving up - Please do- it will be the best decision you ever made.

I was told 3 weeks that at 51 ,I had a suspected blocked Artery in my Leg.
I was also told that if I was happy to carry on limping and smoking then it was my choice !
I was also told that it would be a waste of time puting things right if i continued to smoke.

I have family and 2 grandchildren, with whom I like to spend time and do stuff with.

I went Cold Turkey 3 weeks ago on Wednesday !!
So far so good although I was spaced out for a few days there and also couldnt sleep well for a couple of weeks.
My hubby joined me in my quest so we just Snarl at each other lol.

I am very proud of the pair of us as I never thought we would be able to do it.
I have had an MRI scan and a Ultrasound.so I am just waiting to go back to see the Consultant to see what will be done...I want to be pain free and smoke free !
Good Luck to anyone else giving up or thinking about it.

I don't think I'd shop one, but will be glad when the ban comes in so I can chuck them out of my taxi.:D

At the moment (According to our local Hackney Carriage Office) I can only go as far as saying "I'd rather you didn't" if someone asks if they can smoke.:( You'd be amazed a how many still insist on smoking even after that.
Lots don't even bother to ask just go ahead & light up, even with no smoking stickers on every window.
The only think I'm allowed to do is open the windows, so I do, full whatever the weather.

WELL DONE to those who have stopped smoking.

My nan ( aged 75 ) stopped smoking last year after being told she was diabetic and had to quit OR ELSE.

She had been smoking since she was in her late teens. She threw away her fags in the doctors room and has not smoked since.

NOW THATS WILL POWER! :D

Hear, hear and I think it was years of constant second-hand smoke that led up to my fathers acute heart attack!

So keep it up folks who are trying to give up :)

..and as for that waste of money grass 'em phone line well,

Try telling the HCO that the cab is your place of work, and they are infringing on your right to work in a smoke-free environment.

If that doesn't work, tell 'em to fook off !

(I smoke, but only allow it in my office, not on the sales floor.)

hardest thing I ever did was to give up smoking and now it's the best thing I ever did when I look back.

More money, less coughing, no feeling like a leper, no worrying like f** about coping with an entire plane journey without a fag, can sit through meetings without wondering how long it is before I can have a fag - I feel free! :D

I put pics of wrinkly faced women everywhere as drawing on a fag apparantly is the cause of premature wrinkles and I chewed gum to the point that I was almost addicted rofl it was only when one of me teeth became loose that I weaned myself off the gum :o :D

ROTFL ....

This is the first time I've tried. So far things are going fine although I'm still munching the ciggy filter thingy - I'll soon need a new one at this rate ;-)

:D Weight ...what weigh lol....I gave up 9 weeks ago, have put on a stone and a half............. just take a look at the wardrobe, tottyz is having to auction off to pay for new clothes.... well that and the cash saved from losing the ash!............ hmm and I can say...'all my items come form a smoke free home' .:) (smug grin...well am allowed to be proud...)BUT even as a non smoker I would not grass. If I was offended by someone smoking I would politely say to them..sumthin like....'I used to smoke, not havin a go BUT this is a non smoking area.would ya mind stubbin it out?' I have done this a few times and have never had a mouthful............ far better to just smile to folk.... rather than grass. If you get a mouth ful back, then I say grass the b******s...they deserve it LOL :D
