I was just wondering if there are any sales for recent e.bay defectors?

I'm not a newcomer, but I haven't had a sale for many months, until this week! Monday I sold 20 LEDs to one customer, and last night sold 3 cameras to another - this sort of sales have never happened to me before on Ebid, so I definitely think there are a lot more people looking at the site now, and many of the newcomers from Ebay are just so fed up with them that they want to buy from Ebidders instead.
Viva Ebid!

Thanks, I'm sending out a flyer with every item I sell on Ebay, telling customers I have much more stock on Ebid, and it's cheaper! If we all do this we can surely get thousands of new Ebidders over here every week!

silly question but if ebay find out I' m advertising ebid on my compliment slips i send out with my ebay sales is there anything they can do
at the moment I want to open a store on here but also keep my one going over there as well.

It doesn't cost anything to try 3d, the stuff I sell hasn't really got a market on here yet but that doesn't stop me buying.

Nope. It's none of their business what you do - legally - outside of their websites. They'd only get to complain if you were saying things about them that were untrue.

Hi dunne, I should think that whatever you do with your compliment slips hasn't got a damn thing to do with Feebay. Once you have completed a sale, the packaging is entirely up to you. Why don't you see if you can get parcel paper printed with the e.bid logo.

I've only been here 5 days but still waiting to make a sale. I'm hoping it will pick up soon, I can't remember the last time I went 5 days selling nothing lol

25th July 2006, 05:24 PM
we had just opened a shop over on the other side and it was quite normal for us to go 5 days without making a sale
it was just starting to pick up before it all went wrong with the fees so we're going to open a store on here as well
unfortunately its quiet over on e.bay as well don't think the hot weather helps either

I have made a sale on here! Only started listing in my store here on Saturday evening, but I am gradually moving stuff over from my shop on ebay as it gets close to finishing there.
I have been sending out fliers in my ebay parcels since the end of last week, and I have been emailing my past buyers. I've had some very positive responses from them too.
The more people we tell the better, cos a lot of the buyers have said they had no idea what ebay was doing to its sellers, and they think its awful.

YES !!
I have been a buyer on eBid for over 6 months.
I had about 15 auctions on here that were on a auto re-list x 10, I did not get a sniff, a question or let alone a sale.
Since Friday I have been moving my auctions over to here and let my customers know.
I have had two sales and currently have 1 bid in place. All 3 are from exisiting eBid members!!!
I feel this is a positive time for all. There are going to be lots of sellers starting off on here, but sellers also buy and oldie eBid member also buy as well as sell.
There is going to be something for everyone.
More choice, more value for money, more keeping it within eBid rather than going else where for the item you are looking for, but mostly importantly MORE money in the pot for Gazza and Mark so they can invest in advertising - if they need to, after the eBay fall from fame!
Its win win for everybody.
Its going to take some time, but if we all pull together and premote eBid via other means, thing can and will happen a lot quicker for all of us.

Hello everybody. I'm new from over there too. I sold the first item I listed (was a giveaway though!) and I've got another finishing in half an hour or so - don't expect much from that one unfortunately.
Bought a few things today too but couldn't get what I really wanted on here (wanted a new hammock, its my birthday and I deserve it!) so need to go elsewhere for that sadly.

I don't think they can do anything about it - it's exactly the same as if you met the buyer in person and gave him a piece of paper with a link to your Ebid shop - it's after the sale, it's outside Ebay, it's nothing to do with them. How would they ever find out anyway? Most people who use Ebay don't think it's the bee's knees. You carry on putting your compliment slips out there!!!

25th July 2006, 09:56 PM
Bluebottlebid, if you have an Ebid shop (I don't think you have one, but they're free) you can hide the URL in your signature link, by using code something like this (remove the two asterisks)
[*url=http://uk.ebid.tv/stores/Bluebottlebid]
View my auctions here.
[*/url]
That way all that is seen are the words "View my auctions here" but in the form of a link.
Just thought you'd like to know.
I'm sure auctions are really going to pick up over here- it will be a snowball effect - as many big sellers come over and list their stuff, Ebayers will come over because it will be cheaper to buy from here, and current Ebidders will find more of what they are looking for here, without going 'over there'. (Or 'to the other side', as we like to say!)

Talking about shops, although probably in the wrong place, can you have the equivalent of shop listings where the item is only buy it now and will run and run or is 10 days the maximum for everything?

Hi Bluebottlebid, as the previous poster said, your signature link is bringing up 15,000 odd auctions, I think this is because your shop name must be
Bluebottlebid-something-something-etc
You need to type in exactly what your shop is called, not just your user ID, as it's not finding the shop at the moment.
You can start auctions as '1 day from first bid', which means the items will stay in your shop until somebody actually bids on them - and then the auction will last for 1 day. A brilliant idea, and very handy. I will be converting all of my auctions to this format, as then you don't need to worry about relisting them, they just stay on until somebody actually bids on them.
Let me know if you need any more help.

Regarding the eBid parcel labels...
I'm not being funny, but have you actually got permission to use the eBid logo?
As it's no doubt a trademark/copyrighted image, you could get into a lot of trouble if you're using it without permission.

As I said, I wasn't being funny... it's just that many people do these things without permission, and bring all sorts of problems down on themselves. I was thinking more of the seller than anything else... I wasn't about to report it or anything!
May I respectfully suggest that this be added to the listing? I couldn't see it anywhere.

No problem, it was a good point, i've read previous posts on here from Helen regarding this when she first got permission.
Maybe she'll add it to her listings, it's possible she hasn't thought about that, it may deter other people from doing it that don't have permission.

Hi, not new to Ebid, been a member since 2003, started bringing some items across from Ebay (about 260 atm). Not sold anything yet, but what has been encouraging is that there seems to be more views on items than the last time I was here. Whether that is because of the HTML experience I have now and links to other categories in my stores, or just a general upturn in business, I am not sure.
What I do know from experience is that good weather does NOT help. So, in typical Englishman style - BRING ON THE RAIN!!!!!

Yes, but if you were an Eskimo, it would only be a matter of time before EBay come along and charge you an extra 78% for the priveldge of sitting on snow.

Yes as Anichka54 has said (Thanky you Anichka54) I do have permission from Ebid. I went through them first before puting them up for auction. The labels and the T-Shirt transfers.
You are right to ask, as I am aware that some people don't do these things. Your shop Logo and web address can be added to either without any problems. Although the logo on the transfers for Ebid are large, so is the logo for your store. So it is a good investment.
I put some up on the 60 mins today specifically for newbies along with quite a few other items but no-one bought any. OK it only cost me 10p to list each item but it soon mounts up. I just thought it would get some of you your feedback up. I don't think I will be doing it again too soon. Everything on the 60 mins is £1.00,so I thought it would help. Oh well, I tried.
These are on the Happy hour but it is highly unlikely they will go either.

I started listing on ebid last Friday, i now have around 40 items listed, mostly Action Men, but some other toys as well, i have had around 40 hits so far (although 10 of these were made by myself when i was checking my first few listings) i also set up a Ebid Store. NO Sales yet through but i'm going to keep listing, i have around 300 items on my feebay store of which i will slowly run down on, although i will probably keep using them but to a lesser degree as i sell for a living and need the sales, i just hope to make some Ebid Sales Soon.
P.S i am also using the same user name as that of my feebay account hoping this will help as i have nearly 5000 feredbacks on there, hopefully my first sale is not to far away on ebid.
Its free so i will keep trying, Thanks Iggy200.

something like "Check out my other internet store at....http://uk.ebid.net/stores/IGGYS-SHOP" Etc but i dont want to get my ebay listings pulled. (not yet anyway)

Iggy, I've had a plug for Ebid in the signature to all my e-mails from my Ebay account for ages, and they've never noticed, but the best way is probably to just design a simple flyer that you put in with every product you send out - Ebay can't do anything about that, and it's probably more likely to get noticed by a seller, than an e-mail signature.
Do something that says that lots of Ebayers are moving over to Ebid because of the shop changes and fees always increasing, and maybe say that your items are cheaper on Ebid (I don't know if they are, but I've always done that with my Ebid items.)
