Been with the AA for two years now, got my cards and price for the third year the other day, seemed to be going up and I have never needed them.

Went to RAC signed up.

Phoned up AA to cancel and guess wot :D

Reduced my AA membership from 135.00 to 102.00.
Accepted it.

Phoned up RAC to cancel membership (not yet started) and they asked if they could try and match AA quote.

I said No

If you are with AA , and membership is due for renewal, don't accept renewal fee, even if you fib they will reduce it to keep you

LOL Can do spark plug meself (or my O/H ) ment if it a major breakdown, cover is for 2 cars, so really AA only costing us £51.00 per person instead of £65.00 per person which is a big difference for the year which they first told me it was gonna be.

It works quite well with phone contracts too. When my OH rang to cancel his contract, they cut a chunk off his monthly bill to keep him! :)

We had Green Flag. Never again. They use local garages in a franchise system, which means Green Flag call-outs are not their first priority. We had to wait for 3 hours on a blistering hot day, by the side of the road while the "Green Flag" man picked up a garage customer's car. There was no shelter from the sun. I explained my husband was disabled, but it was only when I threatened to go to the local newspaper that they sent someone out. We switched to RAC. If you are a disabled driver, a woman on your own, or with young children in the car, they do give you priority. We never had to wait longer than 30 minutes.

I reckon a lot of people would do that, even if you bluff. Can probably tell them you have a better quote!

I was gobsmacked when we got a second car earlier this year. For that (G reg) and my current car (R Reg) - the insurance is £88 for BOTH cars per year (I do have full no claims) - but it took a bit of negotiating!
