Brilliant stuff. There should be more stuff like that on the box make no mistake.

tonight is about cancer - it should be required viewing for any smoker - not to scare them but simply put when they better understand the processes they put their bodies through quitting will be a walk in the park - last night made me think twice about a few things, drugs not the least.

great viewing...

nice to actually understand the differences between the benign and malignant tumours isn't it?

And my ma died of bowl cancer, at least now i can understand what actually happened.

I think they should show you stuff like that at school....

(first time i ever really saw a lady put in a box and sawed in half on stage too! remarkable eh!)

What, she just flaked out? Didn't even milk it for a while? Or was it a cereal killer that got her?

:p

OMG unless this is a set up ? how can anyone make fun of someone saying their mum died of cancer

sorry to hear your mum died in such a sad way charlie.

My good friend, paul, died of bowel cancer when he was only 21, was devestating for everyone, not least his new wife and baby :(

although he is an ar$e, to be fair it didn't bother me, i did write bowl instead of bowel - (and I AM suppossed to be cleva) naturally it was bad to lose mum (only about three months ago as well) but one can't blame the world for what happens, 550,000 people a year die in this country (1:4 from cancer/cancer related) so its important not to soil someones memory with misplaced anger/guilt.

thanks for your kind words and concern though - they ARE more approrpraite but hey, if we we're all the same it'd be a dull old world wunnit...

That's very big of you Charlie, I dare say had it been aimed at me or any member of my family I would not have been so gracious.

Damian, that was way below the belt. I know you two have your differences, but that was totally uncalled for. Are you really that obnoxious in RL? Probably not, a remark like that would have at least earned you a black eye or two

damian_steele
18th January 2006, 02:32 PM
No, Shelleywelley, in RL I'm a lovable old teddy bear. I just tend to retaliate when someone starts on me.

PMSL :D

Retaliation is fair enough, when it's called for. What you said was just damn right hurtful, and, more to the point, not aimed at you.

Anyway, I have said my piece. Btw, call me Shell or Shelley, it's easier and kinder on your keyboard :)

fairywishes
18th January 2006, 03:00 PM
Fair enough, very mature way of responding to it charlie and i take on what you have said.

Damian, why don't we get to see the teddy version of you ?
Oh yeah, this is not the real world is it. Have to keep reminding myself. ;)

damian_steele

Damian, why don't we get to see the teddy version of you ?

A big part of the reason is that people choose not to. I know for a fact that you've seen for yourself that in any situation round here where people can misinterpret something you write, they will always do so in the most negative way possible. Part of the fun of being online, eh?

fairywishes
18th January 2006, 07:02 PM
damian, i have stuck up for you ( for want of a better expression) more than once, though maybe not ness on the kt ...

i am one of the people here who does not dislike you or have any problems with you, i find some of your posts interesting and informative.

i was pointing out that i felt that some things are not up for comedic targeting , but then i guess thats only a personal opinion. Some of the humour on tv that i find amusing is well below the belt but somehow it seems less hurtful on a tv show, which may well be rather hypocritical on my part.

The pair I have (as shown in the picture) are made by a German company called Seben. This particular model is for civilians - it's nowhere near as good as the military stuff; it's much heavier and quite chunky but it's about all that's freely available. If you OH has three to four hundred pounds he can pick himself up a set. If, on the other hand, he can find someone to sell him ex-military kit, he could find something much smaller and lighter.

I wouldn't have thought they'd be so useful in a city environment though, as the lenses will amplify all ambient light and the result may be too bright for normal usage.

For use in the countryside, or during powercuts, they're great.

Except that they don't respond well to torential down pours. ;)

However, I understand that they are quite popular in Wales.
