G&M Beware. Heads Up For Members.

I saw this post by Bel...why has it taken so long to get any response on this from g & m

they have been here a lot over the last few days with all this rubbish going on, yet seemed to stand by and do nothing.

various posts have been reported by various people, including me, yet nothing was done.

:confused:...and it reminded me of something that happened in 1998/99 which G&M probably know about but seem to think that it will not happen to them.

I refer to the liability court case of Godfrey V Demon in which Demon lost and was ordered to pay Godfrey £16,000 and pay all court cost's. Basically Godfrey contacted Demon asking for a post in a newsgroup to be removed because it was liable against him. Demon did not remove the post and instead allowed it to remain on their server for 10 days (or it might have been 14, I can't remember) untill it was automatically overwritten by the newsgroup software.

Since then there have been several new laws and several existing laws updated to include activity on the internet. The obvious one being the stalking laws (both in real life and electronically).

My point is this...if someone post's something on ebids forums which you consider to be liable or which is causing you distress or worry and you have asked ebid to remove the post but they have not done so within 24 hours then you may well be able to sue them. In this latest troll fiasco G&M seem to have ignored members request's to remove certain post's, they are putting themself at risk by ignoreing those request's.

Another point...Troll's had better be carefull because it is very easy to involve the police these days if a troll goe's too far. All the police have to do is contact ebid and request the log's so they can find the IP address of the troll, the IP address will tell the police which ISP is being used, so then all they have to do is contact the ISP and match the IP address and the times in the log's and that will tell them exactly who the troll is.

Kazzi if your reading this I think you may have a good chance of having the troll arrested for stalking. The troll seemed to know a lot of details about you so he/she must have some sort of file on you, the police may see that as a form of stalking. If I was you lass I'd go to your doctor and get a signed doctors note saying that since all this troll business you have become distraught and are having trouble sleeping or relaxing. Also, print any post's from the troll, also do screen grabs of their post's and save them to disk, screen grab any emails/PM's from the troll or from G&M and take them along with the doctors note to the police. I think you'll find that they will atleast look into it for you.

In short, no-one has to put up with this rubbish. G&M have a responsibility to act promptly if requested by a member.

I think it's about time that G&M employed some moderators for these forums. If they can't afford to employ moderators then they must find a way of responding to request's for the removel of post's by members a lot quicker. If they can't do either than maybe it's time to close the forums for their own protection ?

The above are just my thoughts on what has happened here recently and G&M's complet lack of action.

Exactly, if G&M acted quicker there wouldn't have been half the damage caused. Their lack of action simply added to the problem and allowed more post's/rubbish than there should have been.

Hmmmmm.

It seems to me that people pour their troubles and woes out on an open forum & then run crying when somebody throws it all back at them.

It's all somewhat reminiscent of a school playground.

Of course the forums are full of trolls, the world is full of trolls.

Sad fact of life, get over it.
Nothing will ever change, no amount of threatening court action will change the habits of the trolls - as in real life, trolls don't give a flying f for anyone or anything.


The easiest thing for G&M would be to simply close the forums, thereby solving everybody's problem in one fell swoop.

because,[as if you dont know] I signed up when ag went down a week or so ago. and when nightslave came on and her/his first thread was 'where are they all' or something to that effect, I opened the thread to see, lo and behold that there I was again, being referred to as shrek and nick as kid rock! this , as you full well know was all said to me 2 years ago over my wedding. during which time, my kids were called retards amongst alot of other nasty stuff, which went on for ages. including auctions being wrecked, evil pm's emails you name it!
so I used pp to make out that pp hated kazzi as well in the hope [which worked] that slave would let me in on who he/she was so that I COULD KNOW for MY peace of mind who the hell has been behind all this .NOW ITS NOT AS IF YOU DONT KNOW ZIGGY IT HAS BEEN EXPLAINED TO YOU ON APS FORUM.......stop making things worse!

You and Elaine are not banned, your accounts have been put on hold. App's has no phoneline at the moment and won't have for maybe a week or so, so he's having to come online via a local net cafe which charges him £2 an hour. He also has other problems which he is having to deal with in real life at the moment too. So he put your accounts on hold untill he has the time to findout what went on.

I'm sure that as soon as he see's what happened he probably activate both accounts again.

Seems to me that the Trolling started way before Nightslave rolled in.

It also seemed to me that PheasantPlukka sided with Nightslave long before anyone else was being slagged off and well before any vague reminders of Trollings from the past which might, or might not, have had anything at all to do with "Kazzi" when she was actually admitting who she was instead of hiding behind false ID after false ID. You two are never going to see eye-to-eye, in the same way as many other people aren't. I find drawing attention to things like the beating that Kazzi and Nick took distasteful and having no place on this or any forum when brought into play by anyone other than those directly involved. I can't contend to know Kazzi personally in any more than the capacity in which she helped me through some bad times two years ago, and for that I will be eternally grateful that we (me and Kazzi) put our differences that we had had behind us. Whilst I agree that some of her behaviour during the trolling incidents was unacceptable, I can also see why she did it and how it came about. Not trying to let my friendship with Kazzi cloud things, but that womans good points, for me, outweigh the bad points that have caused past issues to arise. More likely because as they dressed differently, they didn't fit in with the "Green Monkeys" in the area, so got beaten for the hell of it. In our local town they aren't fussy. To get beaten up you need to be the wrong race or colour in the wrong neighbourhood, a squaddie from either barracks on his own, or a squaddie from one barracks in the manor of the other barracks.
