Folks - I'm on the look out for a Unix Workstation of a reasonably good spec (with OS!) and a copy of Catia V4/V5 for a friend. I'm not au-fait with Unix specs so I wouldn't know a decent specification if it walked up to me, sat down, introduced itself and offered to buy me a drink.
So, anyone with any Unix experience, I would appreciate your input.
Cheers

If it helps at all remotely, maybe in a parallel universe, I have become acquanited with linux over the last few months. Not at the beer buying stage yet though.
I used to run a 1.3 Gig machine 512MB RAM and 120Gig HDD and Mandrake 10.1. It all went rather smoothly and there were no real problems.
I don't know if that helps at all though.
Cheers

I have no idea whether that's good or not. I could kick myself for staying focused on Wintel all these years and ignoring Unix (although my brief flirtation with using Unix in one of my modules at Uni earned me an F1 grade - I think I got the one mark for putting my name on the exam paper....).
Still open to suggestions, comments, advice, bribery, offers of equipment for sale.....

No idea, and the KT probably wont provide as many responses as here (http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showforum=13)
I posted on this forum this morning and within less than 1 minute there were 20 views and 1 response.
