View Full Version : Film Investment -what Do You Think??

I'm curious to know what people think about investing in movies? This is a shameless plug for my posting - look up KEY FOB, VAMPIRE, CULT, HORROR, FILM - but rules are rules; and I believe I can do this within the Kitchen table section.
I have advertised on both ebid and ebay and have sold a number of KEY FOB shares, but not nearly enough to complete production on this independent feature film. It is true that film is a risk enterprise, but yet it does make a handsome return for distributors; otherwise they wouldn't do it. I have to say the odds of making a profit on this project are far better than buying a few lottery tickets. Yet this is a slow moving item and I'm curious to know why - your thoughts at this stage would be most welcome. Thanks. See www.satansgrail.com for pics and blurb.

Maybe it's because your broken website makes the whole thing look amateurish and like a con?
Why advertise the link to your site when the site isn't even finished?
Why try to compete with professionals and then shoot yourself in the foot with such a poor image?

Thanks Damian. In my enthusiasm to make sure people could see pics and more background info - hadn't anticipated that they'd worry too much about the site - particularly as it's so obviously in development. Nevertheless some useful advice. I'll take it on board. Cheers.

why not include a link to your items, i can barely be bothered to look otherwise Im afraid..
your naivety is sweet, good luck with it though, who knows, robert rodriguez famously enrolled for medical experiments on his body to finance his first film, meantime there are folks who are cutting features for the price of a weekend in Paris. (my first short cost me £4.70 and has since been seen by over 35,000 people via the net)
The good news is you can shoot a feature for knack all nowadays, the bad news is - shooting it not the hardest part - thousand upon thousands of feature films are produced each year, most are seen by less than five hundred viewers - without a five figure ad promotion budget there's really no point in even shooting it - other than for fun that is...
