A five-year-old boy the victim of an alleged attempted murder had reportedly been snatched from his garden.
Five children all aged either 11 or 12 have been arrested in connection with the case after Anthony Mark Hinchliffe was taken to hospital with neck injuries.
Detectives have refused to confirm if he had sustained his injuries through being hanged.
Anthony was found in a distraught state by a cousin and a member of the public near woods in Earlsheaton, West Yorkshire.
Two boys aged 12 and a third aged 11 and two girls aged 11 and 12 are being questioned.
The boy's father Mark Hinchliffe, who lives apart from the Anthony's mother, said he believed his son had been taken from his garden and led to the scene where he was injured.
He said: "Apparently, he was taken from the garden, taken to some woods and I don't know the rest of it.
"You don't know what to do, do you?"
Specially-trained officers are speaking to Anthony about his ordeal after his release from hospital.
Senior investigating officer detective superintendent Andy Brennan said the victim was not related to any of his attackers.
He went on: "He has got a number of bruises to his body and has a number of marks around his neck and clearly what we would hope to gain by interviewing him would be to establish how he came by those."
To think that my grandson is just one year older makes my blood run cold.
What is going on nowadays ?!

It's happening all over the kids have taken over, my neice and her boyfriend and another friend were walking home from work, 2 had bikes when the got jumped on by about 15 kids got beaten up and had one of the bikes nicked, police were called after the kids run but did not come out as they said that they could not do anything as the kids had gone, they had to go to police station couple of days later to have photographs taken of there injurys, where I live don't like any of my boys out on there own after it gets dark there are toooooooo many gangs about and my boys are in there twenties. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE NOW that poor little boy it makes me want to cry just thinking about how he must off been feeling atl the time this was going on, and his poor parents, how do they feel knowing that they were not there to help him it will haunt them forever. Goverment should be held responsible, rules have been made making it impossible to do anything to kids these day, and the kids know it.

I live in Burnley in lancashire.
Since it has been getting lighter at nights there have been more and more gangs of teenagers just hanging around the local shops at weekend. None of the shops will serve them booze, but they get adults to go into the shops for them. I once saw a women getting money off kids outside and her asking what kind of beer do you want, so I thought I would do the decent thing and told shop staff that the women in front of me was buying a 12 pack for kids outside. Her face dropped and she gave me a gobfull saying that it was for her and to F Off for accusing her. The staff did refuse to sell her the beer but it got me a lot of abuse when I got outside off her and the kids. I just smiled at them and walked off with my 12 pack of carling. Its a good job that I'm a big bloke or the kids would of most probably had a go at me.
I get realy Peed off at people complaining about what damage these kids are doing when they are drunk then go out and buy them the booze.
Just 2 weeks ago there was a gang of over 200 kids fighting and drunk on a local playing fields, they had come from all over town because other parts of the town have dispersal zones, so they go to one that doesnt.
I get sick and tired of this nanny state that lets kids get away with whatever they want. Believe me I would of got brown trousers if a copper spoke to me as a kid, but these little darlings just give the police a gobfull because they know they arnt going to get done. Its about time kids were scared of the police and to know right from wrong. Bring back smacking, talking doesnt work.

This reminds me so much of the Bulger case. A little kid lured away by a 12 year old. What have these kids got to fear when caught? They will get the best education, all the game machines and luxuries etc. any child could possibly want, a new identity at the end of it, and bodyguards at the Tax-payers expense.
And all the while they will have Psychiatrists telling them that none of it was their fault, and absolving them of all blame. Over the years I have come to believe that some children are born evil.

In my local town, residents had been complaining to the police and town council for weeks about underage drinking in the town center at weekends and friday nights, but can you believe that the town center is right next to a police station, but no sign of a police car or a police officer in sight at all every day.
So the town council decided to investigate one friday night and counted OVER 200 kids that looked between the ages of 12 - 17 drinking in big gangs right outside the station. They were gobsmacked!!! That was a couple of months ago and STILL the police wont do anything!
It makes me so angry that they can get away with what they want and the police cant do anything, then even if they are caught they get put in a nice house with dvd players, and free holidays to butlins, so they end up thinking thats what they should do. england is so F****D up!!!!!
Its about time that YOBS were scared of the police and not the other way round!!!!
But when is the government going to get off their FAT LAZY ARSES and understand!!!!!
Surely the government know what the YOBS are upto so WHY the F**K do they not do anything about it?
ITS PATHETIC!

I forgot to mention that I think the government should do THESE to cut down on crime from YOBS:
1) THEY SHOULD BE SENT TO BOOT CAMP where they are disciplined and should be made to get up at 4am WORK HARD ALL DAY and go bed at 6pm
2) As was mentioned on sky news the other week about being made to wear uniforms (though the yobs ALL do anyway) and walk through the communities doing SERVICE
3) be locked up on an island by themselves, there'd be none left after a year lol
4) be taught right from wrong. You'd think that a kid at 16 would know right from wrong, but these days they are too YOUNG to understand, they have NO brains of themselves, they have to COPY what they see on TV, I was watching horror films at 7, but I dont go around killing ppl, YOBS just use these films etc as excuses!!!!
5) BRING BACK THE CANE & DISCIPLINE IN SCHOOLS!!!

I think its discusting however not suprising.WAs some have already said we have gangs ruling the street, thes gangs being full of Chavs.the government needs to have a huge crack down on these yobs.More detention centres and say a penalty of a month for a youth who say shoplifts/robs/bullies would be enough no doubt to put them off for life.Yes its expensive but if it reclaims our streets then im all for it.

Agree totally with this .....they have no respect for anyone or anything ....when I was young I had respect for other people and would never have spoke back to a policeman , my parents taught me right from wrong ...I fear for my old age as these young thugs are our future :( .....the do-gooders and the pc brigade have ruined this country ..............

Unfortunately it seems that far too many parents don't care about instilling a basic sense of right and wrong or decency in their children, and the police have lost interest in preventing crime - this is a combination that quite frankly frightens me about the future for this country.
I was in town on Tuesday night, and a shop had a smashed window. The alarm company was already there, resetting the alarm. As I know the owner, I stopped to ask what had happened. It was a not unusual story - a few kids had thrown a traffic cone into the window and run off laughing. The shop alarm apparently triggered the owner's phone and an alarm in the police station. He'd got there in five minutes, the alarm company in fifteen, and while I was talking to him the glazers - who he'd called when he got to the shop - arrived. No sign of the police of course, and the police station is just two hundred yards from the shop....
