View Full Version : I've tried all sorts - but still no buyers. What should I do?

Well - I've tried all sorts of stuff and there doesn't seem to be any buyers. I think my stuff is pretty good and I do get sales over the other side - even tho I prefer the way this site works. Should I just give up? Is it that no one wants the stuff I'm selling (now be honest) or is it just that there are lots of sellers here and no buyers?

Should I perservere? try different stuff? or what?

Having a general bad day - so maybe I just need some encouragement!

Yours downhearted :(
MisDee

Oh dear sorry you have not any buyers.I have looked at your auctions and you have some nice stuff on there, but it seems to have got a lot worse here lately. Not sure why as I did not find that it was ever really that good, Not enough buyers and we have now gone global LOL Oh well I used to let mine go around and around for weeks on end. Tried selling different stuff and no good . Put 2 things on a few weeks ago just to see and hardly any hits at all so wont bother now. I have to sell on the other side and things just dont sell here very well due to the fact that most people dont know this site is even on the net.Bit of advertising it what it needed before it went Global Running before they can walk springs to mine. If I were you I would leave stuff on here that does not sell on E Bay, but if it all sells over there better to pay the fees and have a sale rather than letting it just sit here and earn nothing.

Thanks for the comments sweetmimi. I have been swapping and changing stuff across from time to time - but those bloomin' fees on the other side are killing.

Glad for the encouragement - that it is not my stuff tho'. Much appreciated. Let's just hope that if we keep posting - in time it will pick up for all of us. :)

OMG - I've just got a bid. You know who you are you lovely person. I did not intend this to be a pimp. Just needed a bit of sympathy and empathy with other sellers who are finding it hard here.

I have only sold one thing since December ... its disheartening certainly, specially as I have some exclusive stuff for sale on both my ID's and one is for charitable causes which is sad when it gets no bids.

But hey ho, I had to dump ebay because I just could not afford to be running at a massive loss with the fees continually mounting up.

So I will stick it out with ebid and keep reposting my acutions until they eventually sell :D

Afterall, no fees and no bids is better than lots of fees and still no bids lol.

Hope your bidder is the first of many.

I had a sale last week - nearly fainted! I have only sold about one item a week, mostly less than two quid value, and less than 10% profit margin.

Morning girls

Remember this is the last week of a 31 day month following a 28 day month - anyone with bonus in their salary, or on daily pay rates, will be skint this week - thins out the buyers

Also it is just following Easter so lots of peeps have been away - traditionally lots of peeps make a full week's holiday before or after Easter weekend

lots of other similar logical arguements but too tired to type them

will admit though that it's been a bit quiet this year - maybe financial hangovers from all them tsunami donations?

We got a few of them here already...........!!! (Beggers)
But ain't it better to be skint and stay that way, than go into the red?? Come on, be optimistic..............

I tried that - it was costing me £20 a week to sell exactly the same as I sell on Ebid - nothing! At least here it didn't cost me anything if something didn't sell.

I'm still blaming people getting carried away with tsunami donations - what else could explain the lack of tourists here?

I have seen a general downturn trend in retail spending - both in England and worldwide. You could choose to see this as an indication of the start of a worldwide recession.

Personally, I have had a major loss of business from the English and American auction sites. However, I have also had major upturn in business from Australia (not eBid!) - so things have evened out. In my book Australia is the IN place for internet sales right now.

for all the peeps who have had successful sales - what is the most popular payment method ? is it worth putting paypal / nochex on or do people use pppay and chqs/postal orders etc?

Difficult to say I've had payments from paypal, nochex, fastpay, cheques, direct bank transfer as well as pppay. One more not done penny check and I will stop using pppay, though.

Right across the board for me too

Postal payments by cheque, cash, postal order

Bank transfer and deposit

Online - fastpay, nochex, paypal and pppay

Getting very close to dropping pppay completely, but will wait for the balance to be high enough to empty the account first.

Me too, already including a line in my winning e-mails asking buyers not to pay by Pppay unless previously registered. If I get time I will remove the option from my auctions completely.
Just when this penny check carp started I was writing the page for my website to accept Pppay, now I hate to see the you have received an instant payment (that will take forever to get to me) from Pppay.

Personal favourite now is Nochex or Fastpay is a close second choice but most customers still paying by Paypal

I'm fed up too - 16 'buyers' since Jan 6 of them NPB'ers.

When your selling most bits for 99p - it's hardly worth it.

Perhaps I ought to bump up my postage like everyone else!!

3 items sold overnight - one already paid for - with paypal (I never thought I'd see that as a positive!)

four or five customers put in 20-ish bids last night

Some have closed today and been paid for already - woohoo

..... and that was before adding the April Foolishness tag in my forum signature :)

Madelaine - get some scarves listed on here - my scarf listings are all down for photo and text editing ;) probably next Sunday before they're back up

..... oh poo - rain's just arrived - might get them up tonight after all - was supposed to be just heading off to Night Bazaar but Naruthai says she's going nowhere in THAT !!!!! Told her she hasn't been washed for months so she really should go, but she's spat out the spark plug, so looks like I'm stuck in for the night.
