COMET MACHHOLZ IN THE EVENING SKY

Comet Machholz is a fine sight in binoculars and, as of mid-December, was visible to the naked eye for viewers under good, dark skies. Although glare from the nearly full Moon will interfere with observations of the comet during the next week, be prepared to catch this little gem after sunset in late December.

Has it got an idiot's guide anywhere, like, "Look out of your bathroom window, look over the Smith's TV aerial, and there it is."?

When the full moon has gone, although it wont be bright it will be noticeable.

You'll need to find Orion, and then look north of that....

Nope

It wasn't caused by a comet, the area around Sumatra is *very* geologically active
