View Full Version : NSPCC Tally Thread for Frank

PoppyGrove
4th September 2009, 05:02 PM
I promised Frank that I'd start this off so he can have a YDC Tally.

Although he has asked if everyone making payment can do so to his Just Giving Page.

http://www.justgiving.com/fcarr/

If you'd be kind enough to leave a note here in this thread of the amount that you've paid, then I'm sure he'd be totally chuffed.

Thanks very much

I'm not sure about anything beating the t-shirt - I think that will be a tough one to call. Everyone wants their stake at fame by signing it for prosterity. But - people are generous aren't they - amazing really especially in this economic environment

Everyone has done a fantastic job, Babs has been the firm hand at the tiller steering everyone in the right direction, and you folks have been so kind and generous that I've often found myself stuck for words...which is bloody unusual for a yorkshire lad. lol

We all have our petty squabbles on here but it's great to see what can be achieved when everyone's pulling in the same direction.

That is the exact reason that I started the YDC on the darkside back in 2001/2. The forums were full of flame wars and nastiness so I was trying to think of something which would involve everyone and which was a bit of fun in the hope that it would take folks minds off the arguments or at least give them less time to argue. lol. It worked for a while too, but then folk somehow found the time to do both and I got sick of all the nasty comments flying around so I left the forums and came here, I just didn't want to be around all that negativity all the time.

The YDC on eBid has been much friendlier and therefore much more fun. Folk join into the spirit of not just raising a few quid for charity but also having a laugh too. Many new members have used the YDC to list their first auctions (I am one of them) to see how eBid works because they know that they will get all the help they need in the forums from other members.

I think we must have raised quite a few thousand pounds over the 6 years or more that the YDC has been going here, it's an eBid success story that I sometimes think Gazza and Mark fail to use for eBids good to help promote the site.

Anyway, a massive thank you to everyone from me for your limitless support this month and another big thank you for not only joining in the YDC but for keeping it as it is meant to be, fun and friendly. :)

Jay - many thanks for your thought and consideration - the thread is only for the YDC charity auctions that ended last weekend whereby the sellers / buyers donate and bid like crazy and the proceeds from the auctions are doanted to a monthly charity - which in this case was the NSPCC supporting Frank in his walk.

As much as I would like to add your donation to the YDC total - it would be cheating, but - thank you for your kind donation to the NSPCC - very gracious of you to support worthy and notable cause.

I added £5 to the offline total earlier in the week, I think that I posted it in the wrong thread before, that was for payment for Matt's YDC a that I won.

And today I received a generous £10 from Lorraine (UniquenMornique) from a YDC payment. :)

Will we reach £500?

Any more payments to come in?
