I purchased an item from the site using buy it now as it looked a good price, however when I went to pay (they were a present for my mate) he pointed out they were fake (I would never have spotted it).

I have reported the item and seller and will not be paying. Can he leave poor feedback for me?

Save the message the seller sent and pass it on to eBid as they have told you it is fake and i would think if they give you bed feedback it will get removed.

I'm wondering how they know it is fake? The economy is hurting and there is bargains galore to be found and huge savings. Some people post that if a price is too low then it has to be fake. I disagree. It is not always the case. I bought a sony handycam a few years ago on eb*y for 1/2 price of new. It was a brand new item as the seller had received it as a gift and just wanted to get rid of it. It was exactly as described in their auction. I would watch out for scammers but saying an item is fake because the price is too low is not fair to people that just want to get rid of stock and do not care what they get for it. Some people need cash and will take what ever they can get for their items and get branded as scammers unfairly. Yes there is crooks out there but just because an item is really cheap does not mean it's a fake at all. Of course I see people selling brandnew laptops for a song and I would never touch those items.
