Wasn't aware of it. We were considering a weeks break in East Anglia from the 6th onwards. However, had a chat with hubby's auntie today who lives in Chichester and she invited us to go and stay with her. We were discussing this evening that we might take her up on it and if so one of the places to visit would be the historic dockyard in Portsmouth.

There is lots to see and do in Southsea during the summer months, Royal marines Mueseum, D-Day Museum, Southsea Castle, Dockyard, Submarine museum in Gosport, the forts on the Hill, Hillsea lines, etc etc ect.

I think we've done most of them, Stamps.
Given my location - about as far from the sea as you can get on this island, Auntie used to be invaded regularly for a few days when the kids were small during the school holidays. It would give us some time at the seaside without having to spend the ridiculous amounts for accomodation during school holidays and also the option to go away for 3 or 4 days rather then a whole week. No way could we afford to stay in hotels back then.
