Hello everyone. Now I'm not a man of the cloth by any means. I have been baptized and confirmed Anglican for what it's worth. (I can see the shock on some of your faces! lol) I came across this page of avatars and animations I thought some might like to use somewhere. Right click and copy anything you like.
The "Force" be with you. :D

If I come across some good avatars for Moslem's I'll post those also even though I don't know much about their religion.;)

Please don't.

I find these in-your-face religious symbols hugely offensive and very off putting.

(I've blocked all the ones you've put up there so far, so hopefully if people do adopt them, I won't see them).

Many many people associate organised religion with much of the evil that takes place in the world. I don't think religion of any sort should have a place on a business site.

Thank you Cannuck, but I'm already set. I'll take Jesus, but I will have to pass on "the force" (see Daniel 12:37-38, KJV)

Actually, with the revelations in the States and now Ireland that the Catholic church hierarchy seems to be full of paedophiles and sadistic child abusers, I'm stunned that anyone with any compassion would want to admit to being associated with that, but there we go, the followers of Jesus seem to be capable of anything, no matter how revolting or brutal, as long as they get his message across (which normally conveniently coincides with their own views on "morality" or discipline).

Brings a whole new meaning to "Suffer the little children" doesn't it.

Disgusting.

Hazel, you are looking at the actions of individuals not at Jesus, nor what he advocates. From your post you sound as though you are very antagonistic towards those who express their faith, which I find rather sad. I would disagree with some religions, but I still show them respect and and defend their right to express it in whatever way they choose. Is the display of a small symbol such a problem, I think not.

Its a good thing Jesus is forgiving, and wants his flock to be forgiving, and not judge, or you could not have the opinions you have

Of course she could. It's only the actions of those who believe who are affected. So Hazel can hold whatever view she likes, but *you* have to tolerate that and forgive what you might see as unfortunate behaviour. Her actions are are only limited by her own conscience, yours are the ones being dictated from a higher power.

Me... I reckon you're probably both wrong and I'm going to finish this cup of tea and go and do something more cheerful. The sun's out! The sky's blue! Whether you think that's a blessing from God, Thor, or the Met' office, it seems a shame to waste it falling out. :D

Whilst I DO think that open forums are not really the place for 'profession of faith', I don't think people should be antagonised for doing so.

If other people were reading Canuck's previous posts, they would know that he is simply offering these avatars as part of a series he has seen and passed on.

Many of us on here may be 'anti religion' (or even anti-christian) but most of us are polite enough not to upset others by saying so.

Religion and Politics have been the start of many and bitter 'forum wars' - let's not go down that road on here!:(

Perhaps there is a way to keep all forum users happy. Instead of posting the images on here, why not just post a link or series of links to the original site and allow people to go and find their own, if they want them.

That's my view of religion, too - people should be allowed to go and find it if they want it, rather than having it thrust at them in any way at all.

hhhmm Each entitled to own beliefs and thoughts. However, this should not include an attack on the beliefs and thoughts of others.

Didn't seem like an attack to me. Looked to me like a statement of fact. Either way it's an opinion to which the poster is entitled to hold and express and anyone who wants to feel so, is entitled to be offended.

I'm entitled to hold any opinion I choose, and unfortunately I associate organised religion with organised cruelty, bigotry, hypocrisy, and looking around it appears that most of the evil in the world is caused by its adherents trying to mind control others to their own benefit. That's a learned response, borne of experience and from watching what religious people of all flavours get up to in the name of their various gods.

The revelations about the Catholic church that have been coming out of the States and now Ireland are just the latest which show that such cruelty isn't just a few crazies, it's endemic across the entire organisation - and they're STILL trying to cover it all up! That's what gets me, no one is going to pay for what they've done, the perpetrators are just quietly moved elsewhere, where they can indulge their sick perversions on someone else's child.

You want to be associated with that? Fine, that's up to you, but please don't expect me to keep quiet when those symbols are thrust into my face.

Sorry this is one time I've got to speak up... surely you read the title of the thread " Animations & avatars for Christains" - it's hardly thrust in your face if you decided to read the thread despite this.

I was just discouraging people from using those avatars on here, and asking Canuck not to put any more religious stuff on here, that's all. I normally do avoid all the threads with anything religious in the title, or for that matter jokes and other threads I know I'm not going to have any interest in.

The thought of having religious symbols littered around the forum (and for that other poster, yes, I have seen Canuck's other threads and posts with Avatars, that's partly the reason I came into this one) made me want to put across my point of view.

I won't be back to this thread again, promise :D .

Freedom of speech and thought transcend all isles. One side of the isle does not own freedom of speech or thought. To think otherwise is the ultimate level of arrogance & pride.
