A story (http://www.examiner.co.uk/news/local-west-yorkshire-news/2009/05/02/sizzling-summer-set-for-huddersfield-86081-23523437/) in my local paper.

Maybe time to list all your summer items and outdoor items if the story above is accurate. ;)

Mind you they forecast nice weather here for today and we've already had one heavy downpour and a couple of light showers.

I had planned on a picnic with my eldest grandson and my granddaughter this morning (they both slept over last night) but it wasn't to be. I'm not sure how accurate a weather forecast for weeks in advance can be if they can't even get the next 24hrs right. lol

Still, I've had a good weekend with the grandkids and saw my newest grandson for a couple of hours yesterday too.

If anyone wants a nosey...Here are a few photos (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1858698&l=899733e922&id=732738449), and Here is a 30 sec video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TGSlAjU53Q)...it's been a nice bank holiday despite the weather. :)

It still might be worth thinking about investing in some extra summer stock though, because if we do have a hot summer folk will go mad to make the most of it because of our recent poor summers. Worth thinking about anyway.

What a lovely cheerful news report!!

Hope it turns out to be true - I might move a bit further North for the summer - if I'm going to get 30 degrees!!!

BBC weather has been stating too that we should get a hot summer this year, but I'll believe it when I see (or should that say feel?) it, after the last 2 years of washouts.

The grandchildren look lovely Yorkie.

lol @ the hosepipe ban, that was one of my first thoughts when I read the news story too.

Be positive folks!, surely the law of averages says that we are due a good summer soon.

I have a very busy summer ahead of me both at work and at home so it would be just my luck for the summer to be a scorcher when I can't enjoy it. lol

I'd still like it to be a good summer though because a lot of folk I know have not booked their usual holiday abroad because of the credit crunch so some good weather here would make it easier for them (especially those with kids. lol).

WIll believe it when I see it.

La Nina is basically the opposite of El Nino.

Meteorologists appear to have varying opinions of La Nina - the one thing they appear to agree on is the fact that there will be increased hurricane activity in the Atlantic

quote
Globally La Niņa, in very general terms, will mean that those parts of the world that normally experience dry weather will be drier and those with wet weather will be wetter. The Atlantic and Pacific hurricane activity will increase with La Niņa and the effects of severe droughts are likely in those already dry parts of the world.
