I was looking for something in my auctions and decided to search by new first. When it comes to the unused items instead of saying unused it says "condition not known". I think this would put buyers off as it sounds like there is a problem with the item. Why doesn't it say unused instead?
I really think this needs to be changed. What do you think?

"condition not known" would keep me from paying more than junk price for anything. I think you should change it to "unused", that is what i put for new items i sell

Hi guys, I wouldn't buy anything that said "condition unknown" - I'd suspect the seller didn't even have it!

Yikes.........i've just done a "buyers" search of knitting patterns, new first  Sure enough, "condition unknown" is there! The search dosn't work properly either....I got "used" first
"condition unknown" isn't even one of the options we get when listing an item
Youmeus......can you move this thread to the "glitches" forum please, more chance for Da Boyz to see it iykwim ;)

Gave me a scare, because we have a LOT of "Unused" items. Just checked, and our "Unused" auctions don't show that in the gallery listings, only when they are opened individually.
Then I looked at one of these and the "Condition not known" is gone. When I opened the listing, the eBid condition was "Unused". I'm pretty sure this had been typed manually into the title, nothing to do with eBid's options, and it's been removed.
Not a good idea in any case. If someone is drop-shipping, they should know the condition of the merchandise before listing it.

Hi Tia
I definately haven't typed "condition not known" into any of my auction titles
When you use the "sort" facility, it seems to be transposing "unused" into "condition not known"
I've just done another sort......"new first", and it's completely mucked everything up

This is really strange. I just did a search on uk.ebid.net for "Sirdar Knitting Pattern 4354". Yours is the only one that comes up. The "(Condition Not Known)" isn't showing on my screen. Here' what I'm seeing:
Sirdar Knitting Pattern 4354 Kids Picture Jumper http://uk.pic1.ebid.net/icons/buynow.gif
I opened the listing and it says "Unused".
Very strange, we're not seeing what you're seeing. And I see your screen prints, so it's definitely there when you look.
Have you reported this to eBid support?

I just went through all five of your stores, sorted for most recent, then title high to low, in no case did I see the "Condition not Known". It's scary to find out what I see on my auctions isn't necessarily what others see.
I think you should report this to eBid support and point them at this thread.

Hi
It seems to happen if it's just a general search by category, ie:
Buy > Crafts & Sewing > Knitting & Crochet > Patterns
Then sort "new first".
(btw. I just picked that category because I know i've got a lot of "unused" listings in there)
Do you get the same as me doing it that way?
Cheers

edit: I've let support know ;)

OMG!!! Yes, doing it that way, through the "Buy" tab and drilling down.
I did it first on uk.eBid and selected the sort for "New first" and got them in a totally jumbled sequence, "Used" and "New" mixed up, with the "Unused" ones dropped in at random. And it looks like every listing under "Unused" is getting "Condition not Known" added to their title, not just yours!
I went to us.eBid and checked the "Coins" category (there are lots of "Unused" coin listings). The same thing is happening there, to all of them. "New", "Used" and "Unused" mixed up, and "Condition not Known" added to all the "Unused" ones that I checked. Too many to check them all, but even one is bad.
Then, I went into our coin store and did the same sort. Everything looks fine, nothing was added to the titles.

I am experiencing the same thing. All my unused items come up with Condition Not Known in the titles.

Same here...all 'condition not known' in the gallery view but any I open show as 'unused'

Looks like when they introduced the "unused" state last year they didn't catch all the places it needs to be checked. I'd guess it would be an easy fix on the next update, as long as somebody's told support.

Thanks to all who have followed up on this in my absence. If you don't know how to see this just try sorting your own listings by new first.

When I bring up only our own listings and sort by "New First", the sort works and nothing is added to the titles.
If I go to the "Buy" tab, select a category (I tried "Vintage Collectibles" this time), the sort fails completely. New, Used and Unused all mixed up on the first page. And the "Unused" items have "Condition Not Known" added to the title.

All seems to be working fine now, THANKS!
That may be why no one was interested in my Indiana Glass dishes. I wouldn't buy anything glass that said condition unknown! lol
Hopefully this is the cure all and sales will skyrocket now.
