View Full Version : Wacky listing challenge to put Ebid on the map........

FairMaiden
10th March 2009, 11:03 AM
Really not in the mood for this today so if I can do it there is no excuse for YOU :D

The challenge is to list today 3 items you would not normally have earmarked for listing.

I want you to raid your drawers (steady fossy ;)), venture into THAT cupboard where nobody fears to go, peer under the beds and see what you can come up with. Remember the challenge is to find 3 items you wouldnt otherwise of considered listing. We have lots of moans posted about how people cant find what they want here so maybe your forgotten item is just what someone out there has been searching for. :D

You may be highly suprised when it sells :)

Ready, steady.........................................GO !!!!!

oh right, I could always state in the listing that once opened the air will escape.

the box will ALWAYS be full of air. Unless of course you open the box underwater, in which case you will indeed see the air escaping as you open it. BUT, once you remove the box from the water, and that escapes, the box will automatically refill with air.

The air will only be lost if you squash the box, leaving no room for the air to fill it.

Just caught up - Wacky items challenge. I love it. Fair - you have a great imagination.

Yes, I can create an article on the lens. I think it would work better if I can have links to the items being listed in the challenge as I'd have no hope of finding them scattered in their various categories. Lens browsers can then link straight back to ebid, and the items being listed.

Is there any rules ie auction only, buy it now only, a set number of days, or is it open to each seller to decide??

Fair -
A squidoo lens is more or less a web page that anyone can create, about anything and everything that catches the imagination, and its hosted by Squidoo. I have a couple of lenses up and running, and a few other members have pages or lenses too.

The ones I have are more or less centred around ebid and all of them allow people to 'sign a guest book'.

The one on Fun and Community Events in eBids Forums is the one where I add whatever is going on in the forums - well if I spot them or if I'm not paying attention, I get a nudge to add them. Here is a link to it. This is the one that has a link (http://www.squidoo.com/eBid-forums)to your challenge on it.
Take a peek and let me know if its ok.

I've added your listings, along with bykimbos and craigs. I'll be adding mine later (when I've had a rummage under the bed and in the bottom drawer) The only thing I've found so far, is Conans knot end off his chew)

FairMaiden

Thanks Babs. My dog says list the knot end as she fancies a chew :D

peer under the beds and see what you can come up with.

I can't list the stuff that's under my bed. I'd like to, but eBid has rules against it. :o

I did try to oblige, but when Conan saw me positioning it carefully for the perfect pic, he decided it was his and wanted it back ... So......

I've listed these instead.

The bids were up to more than £50 before the listing was pulled...the feebay email told him the listing was in breach of their conditions:confused:

After much contemplation, I have decided on my Wacky auction. BUT, I need to work out some legal ramifications first. This will be a unique opportunity, and one that will only be available for 10 days from the day I list. It will NOT be relisted and is really being done as a promotional thing.

I will however need to recieve payment, AND a signed form from the purchaser to say that the material they recieve is for their eyes only, not to be copied and so forth..... WHY the mystery?

Well - I'm thinking about offering up an initial draft copy of my unfinished novel. It is a work in progress - so obviously not a complete printed book. It currently runs in at a little over 26,000 words. There is no real ending as yet,a nd there are gaps in the story. There are spelling mistakes, and grammatical errors as this is a first draft, and has not been through the hands of an editor at this point.

The novel has only been seen in full in it's current state by three people, including myself. The offer will also include a free copy of the finished novel if I ever get round to completing it and getting it published.

Currently it is loose bound on A4 sheets and has an A4 colour printed top sheet (front cover.)

Now what?

How do we get any of these weird, wonderful and possibly unique auctions to recieve any media attention?

It's all very well telling each other about them here. I've also started threads about it on various MySpace groups.

We have 10 days...... (Well OK. Mine has 10 days) How can we use that time for most exposure?
