I just came over from Ebay, and Ebay was a piece of cake compared to this place, or maybe I'm just tired. I tried making a new listing after opening up a store, at least I think I opened up a store, but I went to make a new listing, and it wont let me add a start bid price, the only thing it will let me edit in the pricing, is a buy it now price. So I was cool with only having a buy it now price, but then when my listing posted, it said starting bid .01, umm no this isnt cool with me. I've read thru the help portion, and found nothing on this topic. And how is this place ? Im looking thru the Cosmetics listings and everything is saying no bids ??? Can someone help me please.
Thank You

You probably couldn't get the start price to work because you'd set the duration to "run till sold", or got some other inconsistency that meant the system was saying "well if you have that set, it has to be fixed price".
If you're seeing 1p "start price" when you're in edit mode, don't worry it's meaningless. If it's actually there on the listing when you view and folks can actually bid, that's different.
When you want this sort of help understanding what's happening with your listings, it's always useful to provide a link to the item so that we can see what's happening without having to hunt. If the above doesn't help, gis a link and somebody will take a look!
Welcome aboard.

Yes thats what i did, i had the listing on run till sold, so i take it that i have to specify an actual end time for it to let me post a start price, because if i do the buy it now feature, it will start automatically at 1 cent bid ? You cannot have a buy it now with actually bidding? Meaning, if i want to have the buy it now feature, i cannot do a starting bid of say 9.99 ?

Several people in the forums have links in their forum signitures that you might like to read to make your listings much easier to do. You are in the right place to get help. And welcome to eBid.

Hi IIDelusionalII, and welcome to eBid, OK to help you get started add a signature link to your posts so us nosey lot have an easy link to your items whilst reading the forums, read this thread http://helpdesk.ebid.net/showthread.php?t=100959 then fill in some info on Your About Me Page so people know about you as a seller. Have a look at mine so you can see the sort of thing you can do. Perhaps buy a few things to kickstart your feedback over here, always looks better than a zero, ( I have some nice cheap prints :) ) have a look at my listings to see how I dealt with the zero feedback problem when I started.
Then email all YOUR (not Greedbay's they are a venue, they keep telling us) customers, and tell them where you are, give them a link to your listings. Grab the records while you can and from paypal records as well. That should keep you busy for a bit, and shout if you need a hand. Additional body parts incur a small fee Oh and finally read the forums there is a lot of useful information on here.

Have you clicked the 'online' button in section 2 after setting up your store? Also you need to edit an item into the store within 12 hours otherwise it automatically goes off line if it's left empty. :)

Make sure you haven't ticked the 'Fixed price' box then put in your starting price and then make the reserve price the same (unless you want a reserve) see if that works. :)

Hello and welcome, Dont do run until sold, List for 7 days and you can repost up to 10 times. that way your listing has a turn at the top of the listings.

I too found it confusing when I first defected from Greedbay. but with a little bit of experimentation, practise and help from the friendly people on these boards I now find it better here than on the 'other side' (especially the AAL - After Auction Log)
Also, if you do find that you have messed up with an auction it's not a problem because all you need do is to close it and start again - You don't lose anything because unlike Greedbay, there are no fees until an item sells :-)

Speaking as a blonde, I honestly understand how you feel!
I found it quite a bit daunting at first, change is always unsettling, but do persevere as you will in a very short time find this site easy to manage
The peeps on here are really great!
They are very willing to help you and pass on their knowledge
Do use Ken’s links to find your way around and Kimbo is pretty brainy too!
Nice to have you on board lots of good luck to you! :D

Hiya!! I used to sell there too, was more tired of the snappy comments and unhelpfulness on the forums, that it's a breath of fresh air over here! Best wishes to you on Ebid, hope you have great success! Just remember to send an ecard (think you can do that from here anyway!) to all your previous customers so that they can find you and tell them what a nice bunch they are on eBid!! My fees for Ebid for the last month were 1 euro!! What a difference eh!! Got to go, got some brown bread in the oven, it's my baking day today! :)

(cutest foot in mouth I could find :D)Kimbo, I meant the expression “I’m blonde”
Which comes in very handy for me when I’m about to ask a question or say something that I know is going to make me look stupid!
Kimbo everyone knows you’re brainy even if you are blonde and... and ... and ... and ...
Ummmmmmmmm
Someone told me once when you’re in a hole stop digging…
So bye..
P.P.S love those puppies! :D

Cute, aren't they? Though I'm a bit worried about the bowl... at least there's no spoon visible. :D
Do you need some polyfiller for that hole?http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/tsmileys2/18.gif
Just a pet hate of mine - this assumption that blonde=stupid, and I make a point of never answering questions that use the excuse. After all, if the person asking needs help because they're blonde, they can't possibly want help from me, now can they?

Hi, I think you should be warned that if you list something for 1 penny or cent, you should be prepared to sell at that price. We do not get many bidding wars on here so most things go for their starting values.
