Ok I have 700+ items going at the moment.

Things that I thought would sell quick, don't and things that I just list that are simply listed because they are weird (to me) sell quite fast.

A buyer has joined eBid just to buy an object I was selling.

What am I waffling on about I hear you say. Well simply put if you come across or have any unusual items that you want to get rid of, list them and you may be surprised

How weird are we talking Sarah?

Maybe weird is too strong a word, maybe I should have said unusual. Not including YDC silly auctions, I have sold loads of unusual cups / mugs, money boxes / piggy banks that are not the norm, (there is at least 1 money box collector who post on forums a lot) but todays item was my flower / tie press that I thought i would never sell, but listed it just in case after all listing cost nothing.

Another thing that sold was a how to eat your kitkat mug

I agree- you'd be amazed at what can sell - In fact, quite often you can come across something that looks totally ordinary to you.

I remember a few years ago, I had a few glass bottles or vases - some clear, some colored.. I was able to find that a few of them were actually collectible, and listed them, they sold reasonably well (later found out- they went dirt cheap) then I decided to list what I thought was junk.. and one bottle (it was about 3 ft. tall - bit less than 1m ) , had a bulbous bottom end about 8 inches diameter and a long stem neck that was about 2/3 of the overall length and was about 1 inch diameter with a "splay out" at the top , sort of like a huge decanter, and was a turquoise green color.. I had no clue about it otherwise, couldn't identify it at all, took it to 4 antiques dealers in my area and none of them thought it was worth anything "just pretty junk" (in case you are wondering, no it was not a water pipe or hookah - there were no other holes or openings or anything like that ) .. 5 days later , bids started coming in.. (mind you, I'd gotten this at about $1.00 or so - bought in a lot of glass) Over the final two days of this auction, I was amazed at the war going on. it finally bid up to .. $385.00 USD!!

When it closed, buyer sent me paypal payment immediately and paid an extra $20 for shipping and insurance and asked me to pack it with the greatest care, as if it was some priceless treasure or relic..

So I did.. Tried to find out from the bidders why it was so prized.. neither of them were willing to explain it to me (possibly hoping I might have other similar items and would list them for cheap... who knows?)

All I'm saying is.. stuff that you might think the very littlest of, have the lowest expectations, or even consider to be junk (I'd almost decided to toss that glass in with the recyclables, thinking it would not be worth listing fees, etc) - can sometimes turn out to be your most profitable auction ever..

I don't search this forum - just reply to any threads that grab me:)

I was looking for prezzies for Annie recently and searched for 'money box' as I know that she likes to collect them.

When I saw a few for sale I was spoilt for choice and went a bit mad:eek:

I 'confiscated' a broken Omega watch from my husband who was going to dispose of it. I listed it on the other side when listing was still an option and it sold for about £90  We still can't believe it and now hubby brings me all sorts of things saying ' you never know'
