4.22pm, the Xmas tree went up. Youngest daughter added tinsel then had to go get some baubles.
4.23pm, Lola the kitten (aged 5 months) tries to do a runner with the tinsel in her mouth and pulls the Xmas tree down.
4.24pm, Xmas tree stood back up again.
4.28pm, Lola knocks Xmas tree over again when trying to kill it.
It does not bode well for the safety of the Xmas tree this year.
We have had many different cats, but not one has ever knocked the Xmas tree down even once.
Good job we love her because of her cuteness or we would be tying her to the tree to get some peace and quiet.
She is currently wrestling tinsel and trying to kill it. My youngest has already gone to lock herself in the bathroom so she can wrap her presents to her friends in relative cat-free safety.
Wonder if they sell kitty Valium anywhere...

How to stop your cat attacking your Christmas Tree.
Shoot it
Get a dog
Let it live outside until the new year
Release a few hundred mice into the vicinity
Shoot it
Give it away to someone who doesnt believe in Christmas
Shoot it
Serve it up instead of Turkey
Only joking :D:D:D:D

lol.
The Xmas tree is now laid forlornly in the corner while Lola sleeps on the sofa next to the radiator to recover her strength for more mischief.
Not sure if I am putting the correct link, but there are some photos of her here:

She had a habit of climbing into the watering can when we first got her, then she couldn't get herself back out again, so we had to get her out. Two minutes later, she would be back again. And she likes sleeping cuddled up to the tennis player bear too :-)
I'm definitely too old to be taking in any more kittens after her - I just can't keep up with the little monkey.

I can just picture the scene of destruction and chaos - or chaos and fun from Lolas view point. I just love it when animals find mischief to make and create.
I have 2 dogs and one of them is very christmassy - we have a small 4 ft tree sitting on a table to stop him using it as a p post, but it doesn't stop him rummaging under the table for christmas presents that he can open well before christmas.
All in all when they were puppies, they destroyed a chinese carpet, double bed base, umpteen matresses, quilt covers, sheets, doors, door frames .... etc. There is more, but over 9 years the memory starts to fade. Its all part and parcel of their characters / natures to investigate, and puppies and kittens love investigating new things.

was going to say put it in a playpen if you have one or can borrow one, but that's to keep human babies off christmas trees. nothing you can do about cats!

Some of the dates are off because I couldn't be bothered to reset the date on the camera. She only came to live with us in August.

She looks a right little mischievious monkey - but also a bundle of fun too when she plays I bet.
I don't think there is any hope for your tree though cos she can still get at it if you put it up on a table. I think I'd leave the tree on the floor empty of deccies appart from one or two strands of oldish tinsel (if you have any that doesn't matter if it gets wrecked. Just for added devilment - add a small pressie or 2 just to see how she reacts to them - you never know, they may distract her from the tree.

Many many moons ago, way back when blown vinyl wall paper was all the rage :o
We took in an abandoned kitten, only about 4 weeks old....well, after nursing it back to fighting fitness....the bloomin thing thought it was great fun to circumnavigate the living room about 4ft up the walls :eek:
It was like a ruddy snow storm, bits of wallpaper flying off in all directions :eek:

PMSL Fossy - but you only shot it three times - cats get to live 9 times dont forget ;)
and if you get a dog, make sure its not a wuss like my cavalier, who runs the opposite direction if a cat hisses at him!

roflmao. That was my youngest, and the disembodied hands are the ones of her mate. It was the only way we could keep her still for long enough to get a photo.
It was a big surprise that the tree stayed intact overnight, and even more so that it is still up today :-)

Kittens and Puppies are like children - they don't stay anywhere long enough to be counted. The only time our 2 dogs stayed still long enough for a 'posed' photo is when they were about 3 month old and they were allowed up the stairs for the first time. They found it fun to run up the stairs, sit for a minute then run down again. They were so amused by this game that they played it for nearly an hour.
The tree is probably still up as the novelty has worn off - for the time being. Try adding a few trimmings and see how that goes. It could be the baubles and tinsel that gets the attention rather than the tree itself.

We had a crazy kitten that would go into the garden, turn tail and run back in through the french doors and run straight up the curtains. She would walk along the curtain pole then down the other curtain. This went on for ages until I changed from a carpet to laminate flooring. The first time after the floor was put down she couldn't stop and slid headlong into the wall.
Her face was a picture lol. She became more staid after that.

I don't put up a tree because of the two pictured here. If you think life is complicated with a cat, try living with 2 Jack Russell Terriers. Actually things are a bit calmer since we got the second one.
