My worst one was when my 3 yr old opened every single present and took them to every person saying "look what you got".Bless her grrrrr.

My best one was when I was about 5. We didn't have much money when I was a kid but I had a rich uncle and he bought me a barbie type doll wearing a long evening dress. I treasured that doll for years.

December 20th/'67 when my tour of duty in Nam was over ( and my military career )
and I reached the paradise of Southern New Jersey.
As a child I might have been a bit disappointed in some gifts....but never had a bad Christmas.

my best christmas? was the year when I got my sister a computer (she'd always wanted one, for years!) and she was so surprised, she cried :)

Oddly enough, my most memorable holidays were the ones where I got someone the "perfect gift" and never one in which I had gotten (even when I had got what I wanted for 2-3 years or more!)

I dunno.. for me, I guess it's more about what I can give, than what I get .. (Hey! DON'T get any ideas now... I'm not that rich.. YET! LOL!)

When I was a kid in Holland, there were no pressies at Xmas. We had/have a do on the 5th of December called St. Nikolaas, where kids get pressies. I do believe Xmas is more commercialized over there now, probably with pressies on both dates.

All my Christmases have been good.... Particularly when the children were small....It was always a magical time :)
Unfortunately my Mum died on a Chritmas Eve so that Christmas was sad. She had been ill for many years and to be honest it was a happy release.

My most disappointing pressy was when I was a young teenager and Portable Transistor radios were invented. I wanted one so badly, but we didn't have much money and I don't think Dad quite understood the idea of what "Portable" meant. Bless him he got me a Cream Plastic small Alba radio (With awful reception) with a long wire so you could plug it into a light socket.(NOT a wall socket... you had to remove the light bulb first before you plugged in the radio.....so I always listened to Radio Luxemburg and Journey into Space in the dark )..hence you could take it from room to room :D.....I suppose it was portable in a way.
I bet it would be worth a fortune to a collector now :D

My best Xmas pressy was my Daughter :) Born 37 years ago :) A bit before Christmas day when she was due, but she never is one for hanging around :)

My worst memory was when I was either 6 or 7. We'd driven up to my aunt and uncle's on Xmas Eve to spend 2 night there. Early Xmas morning, dressed in my best frock (and the only one I had with me), while chatting with my cousin I stepped backwards and tripped over/fell into a bucket of water. Ended up wearing one of her dresses, which I hated.

Most memorable as a kid.

we had a tree with candles...real candles in those little holders that clipped onto the branches ( Red...now thats really showing our age)...and dad had been out with his brothers for a drink Christmas eve.

He lit the candles and to us kids it was magical. When he blew them out we shouted for him to light them again...but he managed to set fire to the tree and set the living room ablaze.

Mother always hung the few salvaged burned baubles on the tree every Christmas after.
