I buy loads and loads of items on Ebid, always buying something but recently came accross problems.:(

2 items I have purchsed from diffrent sellers
their not responding to messages as I want to pay but feel unsure as their is no responses to any messages,

one of the sellers I purchased off was a regular on the boards complaining of no sales but has feedback in 60's all positive, but no response....sad really as things do sell here its some sellers that don't!!! other is a newbie.

why I am waiting for a reply is I paid for a item recently and the seller was not new and did reply untill they got paid!, now no goods, chasing themat the moment but paid by postal order so charge back is out of the question, only low value but its still money.

So a note to any seller new and old....if you leave please remove your items so people don't buy them.

I ran into this too, but happily before paying. Since then have always asked sellers that don't seem to have had any recent activity a question and wait to bid until I hear from them. There seem to be a few old sellers listings on here still, even though they are not active any longer.
For active sellers (like the one you have seen on the forums) check their notes to make sure they have not gone out of town - some leave a message in a note at the top of the listing. Or send a PM.

This is another good reason to buy from sellers with stores. At least then you can check when they last logged in and took an interest in their auctions. If you enter a store of someone who hasn't logged in for quite some time, it may well be that they are no longer interested in selling here, so sending them money would be a bad idea.

True ladies. If you spent your hard earned shillings on me you would have received proper responses and rapid delivery of items you had absolutely no use for.
But it's the thought that counts!

I'm around every day. Won't ignore you.
Again, this is the same problem with older listings.
My advice would be: ask seller a question and see if they respond and don't automatically hit the pay button, but request an invoice from your seller, either through AAL or direct email.

I have had this recently.
Luckily I didn't pay, but I'm trying to build my feedback up and was worried about a neg.
I contacted support and they told my to contact the seller one more time giving them 24 hours to respond and if I still got nowhere to leave a neg and let then know if a got one back.

Glad someone started a thread on this. I have mentioned on other threads about this problem also. I now only ask a question before entering into a purchase. Still waiting for a reply from one seller, I would like to buy 2 of their items and they just don't answer.

You seem to know a lot about how things run here. I have been in contact with another seller recently who was supposed to be last on, on the 13th of August. She has answered all my questions and even listed two items for me last week and yet her store still says last seen 13th of August.

Do you think maybe she leaves her computer on all the time and never logs out? Would like to ask her but unfortunately questions asked appear on listings so wouldn't want to do it that way and she never seems to come to the forums.

This is the main reason I have been against those who suggested free initial membership and free listings etc.
I reckon the site would get bundles of listings put on ''list till sold'', and just left there forever.
I would like to see something along the lines of if a seller doesnt sign in at least once every 7 days or so, then their listings are put on temporary hold, or similar.

She's probably unaware of it. You could let her know using the AAL on one of the items you've already bought and then it would only be visible to the two of you.

Many sellers do not realise that they need to log out of, and then back in to, the main selling side of the site for their store's "Last Seen" date to update. The issue has been that they've logged in and ticked the "Keep me logged in" box. Gazza has stated that in the very near future sellers will automatically be logged out every 48 hours so this issue will be resolved.

Even though I don't have a store, just selling a few bits, I'm on everyday and post withing 24 hrs if possible. In fact I've just had 2 sales in the past hour and already I've posted them. So you can buy from me in complete safety :D
Also thanks for the tips about the non selling sellers, never thought anyone would not want to sell their listed items.

Damian,

Thanks again. That will be great when the change comes in. It will make it a lot more secure to do a transaction. Look forward to it!!!

It was also stated earlier about putting sellers items on hold or deactivating the listings when the sellers are not active on the site. I had suggested this in another thread somewhere that any sellers who have not logged in over a 30 day period or so, should have their listings deactivated so there is no possibility of someone just putting items on, losing interest and not logging in to deal with purchases or queries.

It would get the site buzzing a lot better.

I am going to Mexico for a month in the near future, would I be able to just close all my listings and then just simply re-list them when I come back? I don't like the idea of using the holiday settings as some buyers don't look at them and that may cause problems for me - and them - when I'm gone?

I know Jean but they don't always look at it and I would be worried the whole time I was gone, I would prefer to close my listings and just relist when I come back if this is allowed

I never thought I would have to say this; but I have paid for an item on sept 1, no response from seller via email, AAL and ask seller a question.... :( there's been recent activity so I know they're around.... I really needed my scented candles :(

I didn't realise that when you shut the pc down and you were still logged on that the visit date on the store didn't change.
I'm on here everyday, usually till late aswell.

I just want some sales so i can get going on here. I've bought an item to get my feedback off zero already.

Bought and sold on ebay no problems, but understand people need to get to know this site. Hope i can start selling here soon.

Poor communication doesn't help anyone. I run my own business and if never bothered to communicate with my customer i'm sure i would not have as much work as i do.

It might be an idea that you can only stay logged for 24 hours.

I closed mine when I went away in August, then when I return just put them back on no problem, hope this helps, have a good holiday, would love some sun I hate the rain & it has not stopped since I came back.:(
