View Full Version : Have I been conned?

I bought 3 Lacoste t-shirts off ebid from a seller in the USA, they arrived after about 1 week but all the shirts were really bad fakes, so I contacted the seller and they told me to return them for a full refund, so I sent them back to them on the 24th of this month (without tracking as it would of cost me a fortune). As on now the seller is saying they have not received them back?, but I think the seller is trying to con me!. I have a recept from the post office and they said after 25 days if the item has not been delivered they will investigate and refund me. Does anybody know how long long it should take for a parcel sent on the 14/8/08 by Airmail takes to get to florida in the USA? or has any other information that might help me please???.
Cheers

Airmail to the US should only take a week. Anybody who would sell bad fakes is inherently untrustworthy, in my opinion, and you should reckon that into your behaviour. I would definitely set about insisting on a refund from the seller. Be firm, polite, determined. Tell them what you expect them to do, and when by. (This would be my approach, others may have different technicques!) Depending on what payment method you used, you could have recourse that way. Consider leaving negative feedback to warn other potential buyers, and reporting their fake listings to ebid - auction sites are now liable for fakes being sold via their venues, so they should take such warnings seriously.

It can take up to two weeks, but in my experience the postage to/from the US is usually about a week to ten days. I would give it two weeks, then pursue it.

It's early days yet Gary I should wait a bit longer it can take up from a week to 14 days and in some parts of the USA maybe longer. I waited 3 weeks for a book and it was posted 3 weeks before according to the postal stamp :)

Gary - Post doesn't usually make it from here to America in three days.;) Did you send it on the 14th or 24th (you note both dates in your message)? Normally for me it's about ten days to two weeks for delivery from here to Florida. Give it a couple more days.

You've all got more faith in a seller of fakes than I have. :D

Didn't spot the 24th :) - my response was based on the 14th. Definitely should be there by now if it went then.

Kimbo - maybe should be there by now. Quite a few people have noticed the post over there taking a bit longer lately - I've had an item I sent the 17th just arrive.
As to selling the fakes, always a nice idea to give the seller a chance to make good first. There are some sellers using drop shippers that have no idea what the goods they are selling look like.

there are more and more fakes coming onto ebid from the states which is a big shame as admin don't seem to have the resources to stop them. I think it is up to all of us to report the auctions if and when we see them to stop this kind of thing happening.
Basically if it's too cheap..... it's usually a fake
even all these new auctions stating "gently used" to get around selling fake louis vuitton is driving me up the wall too... grrrrr!! because they know that no louis vuitton new items would be able to be on here and any that are are fakes they are now stating "gently used":mad:
to OP sorry you have been conned - please let admin know about the seller. :)

Also bear in mind that Florida has been badly lashed by a tropical storm which has criss-crossed the area several times recently. This is likely to have shut down airports and processing facilities. Delays are likely because of it.

If you paid with Paypal I'd put in a claim. They'll hold the funds at the other end untill they investigate it. Hope this is of help.

I would wait.
If you sent them on the 24th, they will not get there yet IMO. It takes that long for UK first class to get delivered sometimes.
Royal mail state 25 days (working days) and there must be a reason for that.
You cannot start a paypal claim as you received the goods and you decided not to return them by a track-able method, so you will not be covered by paypal as it is the buyers responsibility to return the goods by a track-able method. (well that's the theory)
I wish you the best of luck though

Aha! So this is where being a lazy moo is useful... I copy and paste rather than retype, on these occasions. :D

As I already stated on the same question on another forum:
Your dates are conflicting but if you sent the item back on the 14th that would be 13 days so far. When I lived in the UK I sent many packages to the USA and the quickest time one arrived at it's destination was 10 days, and one package, longest time being 35 days, but on average my packages arrived at their destinations around 15 - 17 days. I remember one time I shipped a package to a USA destination, 10 days later I shipped another one - the 2nd package got here first and the 1st package arrived 9 days later (????).
So I would advise you to wait at least until next Monday of any changes.
