I don't think there are any hard and fast rules, but most good sellers would normally ship within 24-48 hours (possibly excluding weekends).

If item is paid for before 2.00pm then I usually ship the same day.

There is not set rule on here.

If you can get to post office daily, why not ship daily, if you can only get there 3 times a week ship 3 times a week. If you are only able to ship once a week, I would add a note to your auctions which explains this. That way the buyer can see up front how long approx it will take for goods to arrive.

As a seller, I was wondering how much time sellers had to ship items to buyers after the item was bought.

I've always gone by the "ship within two business days" guideline for items I have in my possession (especially since the USPS offers FREE Priority Mail package pick up from your home--see Click 'n Ship), and if it is a "special order" item (which may take several weeks for the buyer to receive) to explicitly explain this delay in shipping in my listing. Then make sure to state your intended shipping plan in the invoice to your buyer--so there are no questions/surprises.

Myself i post same day all items paid for by 4pm.
As a buyer i expect my goods within 5 working days of paying.
