Why do most of us Specialise in One sort of Item? With me its watches, Some sell Postcards some books etc But most of us tend to stick to the thing we know about. WHY? Why dont we just list anything we can grab our hands on? The point being diversity! Surely if we sold a wider range of things then you stand more chance of a sale?

This sounds like a new thread coming.

I sell mainly 4 different classes of things.
Sometimes I just concentrate on one, sometimes on more.
Sometimes I do one type on one site, and another on an alternative site.
I think it's a good idea to 'rotate' stuff, so people see something different.

I overall list a wide range of products, simply items that have a wide appeal to people (well I hope they do)

I have recently found a way to find unusual items, that is very simple, but at this stage I will not divulge what it is (raindropsies trade secret at the moment)

The listings will appear in the very near future. An example is a kitkat mug, no that bizarre you may say, but then it has a kitkat bar holder on the cup:)

Those selling as a business sell the things we KNOW about. I'd be totally out of my depth selling games consoles, antiques or just about anything in between.

Also, if you're selling new goods, unless you're a drop-shipper, very few of us have time to source a lot of diverse products.

In my case, I sell postcard, because I collect them myself and my stock hardly takes up any space.
My online selling started off getting rid of my late father in laws belongings, who was an incredible horder. Anything from china to books to antique ornaments, numerous postcard albums, etc etc. My nightmare was storing all the stuff and keeping track on what was where.

I started with an estate to sort out too... but then I retired and needed more income...so started going to local auctions.... Now depending on what lots I see that are good quality and I know will probably sell I pick these up and I am able to sell at a reasonable price.
Therefore I sell a wide range of things... mostly useful things. I avoid electricals like the plague...also not good at phones and PC stuff so don't do those...
Dad's estate stuff is still in sorage and I have a rummidge every week or so..it's incedibly daunting in there!!....he was a manic car booter...buyer that is and picked up anything that caiught his eye.
The result is the Store title below and me learning something new every day as I research yet another item from Dad's stuff /

Nosty - are you trying to confuse folk or do you have a multiple split personality?;) I am sure you were a baby a while ago, then you appeared wearing a female frock type outfit, then went back to being a baby and now you appear to be a young lad!!
As for diversity, I was thinking of freezing my pet St Bernard dog poo and selling it as the ultimate burglar deterrent:eek: Peeps could buy a pile (and gee - wot a pile:D) and leave it in their garden to deter would-be burglars - whadaya think? Should be aroma rich by the time RM deliver it!!!!
