I've just had a question on one of my paintings http://uk.ten.ebid.net/perl/auction.cgi?auction=1201205272-30571-1&mo=auction
As I have included in my reply, I note they have joined today, sounds suspicious to me, and I was wondering if anyone else has had any enquiries.

Mmmm, don't know, strange they only say 'Hello' without including 'Ken' or 'Mr. Gillam' that is clearly visible in your auctions..... here's a website with the same name:
http://www.bestchoiceplanet.net/
.... don't see any paintings or prints there....

If I read and interpreted the Q they answered it seems they want to pay by a business cheque. To my knowledge these are more safer than personal cheques. I would accept there offer of this method, but thats just my opinion.
Best of luck ken.

just make sure the cheque is clear before you send it, after all everyone has to start somewhere

not sure ken... the question has a shortend word and a missused word... for a business it is not very business like "letter"

I agree to a point, but what would you or Ken have done if the buyer had just brought the item without asking a question? Then said they would be sending a business cheque?
I would just chance this buyer and let them buy the item, but wait until I have had clear funds before I send the item as I always do.

that would have been differnt, we would have been none the wiser, why would they have asked in the first place. but on saying that like you (in this case) I would wait for the cheque to clear. however I have had a case where the money has entered my account and appear to be cleared only for it to be removed at a later date as a stolen cheque so even that is no guarantee

Yes I see your point, but as its a business cheque you can always check with the company on the cheque. I have only had 1 problem with a cheque (£1.75) which bounced due to the person not having the funds in their account, so it cost them about £25 for bouncing a cheque:confused:

The thing is it states in the description about payment by cheque after it has cleared! Just sounds like a scammer to me, we shall see.

It is a scam of some sort. I had the same enquiry and I thought it sounded dodgy. They now have a line through their user name.
