What do you do if someone has forged your signiture on a delivery?
My initial thought was that my parcel had gone to a neighbour but I should of had a card through my door stating that. Instead, theres an unreadable FORGED signiture on the track & trace saying it was delivered here when I wasn't at home.
I've fired off an email to parcelforce but what else should I do?
Can anyone please advise me of any other action I should take?
The seller is aware of this & I've informed him I've been posting on here [see my other thread]

When signing for parcels there should be a signature and the name in CAPITALS and the date and time, the trouble is these new electronic hand held things they carry are a wste of space

The name is in capitals.... I've since found out from the seller that he was the one that mispelt it (quite badly) so it looks like an oppertunist thief has copied it from whatever was on the address sticker.
It was a flatscreen monitor... not that expensive as second hand & i thought I'd got a bargain buy to be honest but I don't know how well the seller packed it or if the delivery driver would know what was in it & forge a signiture himself?
Theres all sorts of scenario's going through my head at the moment, I've got a mixture of emotions...anger & i'm having a bit of a sniffle about it too ... OMG I'm being wussy over £30

Hi! I am the seller of this item and I will do whatever I can to sort this out. It does sound like the delivery driver or someone within Parcel Force has taken the opportunity. It was well packed in a HP printer box, so he or she might have taken a chance. I too have been on to Parcel Force, and the next stage may well be Police involvement.

And I'm feeling bad about doubting the seller had sent it now (see other thread) as he's been nothing but nice & supportive since I mailed him aboout this.
OOO I could kick myself... I went out for a few hours that morning ..sods law it was 'apparently' delivered during that time

It could have been the delivery person, I had one incident with recorded post where the walkman had signed for the item and left it on the step. Luckilly I found the item, reported it and the walkman never delivered on our walk/round again. I don't know about parcelforce and couriers, but RM don't give a stuff who signs for items, as long as they answer the door or are in reception in a business.
My advice would be to get the carriers to prove who and where it was delivered to, afterall the responsibility lies with them.
Some time ago someone I worked with had a forged withdrawal slip used on their account at their local bank where they were known, the signature was nothing like the genuine article. They persued the bank and got compensated. If you have a look at the postwatch site they may be able to help. Good Luck

I misspelt the surname only, there was nothing wrong with the address, I have checked. However, in this case there is a positive to come out of my error: if the recipient had really received it, the she would surely have spelt her name correctly. The fact that the "signed" delivery docket matches the label on the parcel seems to suggest that someone has indeed just copied the details off the delivery label on the box! I will be giving the Police a call tomorrow.

Just a pointer, something you may not have thought of, what time was this 'signed for' and had enough time elapsed for the item to get there. If possible put the tracking number in this thread so we can see the timescale of things, it may help us give more details on what to do. Now I would not normally do this, but there is a person on ebay, his user name is called the_man_from_the_post_office. He goes on the postage board on feebay a lot. He is polite and gives people the facts at what to do, sometimes he tells you things you would never think of and other times he tells you what you don't want to hear, but he keeps to the facts.

Don't worry, please, I do understand your reaction, I would probably be the same.
We'll see what Parcel Force have to say tomorrow and then if they aren't interested in doing anything, we'll report it to the Police and take it further.
I had a similar thing happen to me years ago over a Playstation 2 game on that other auction site, and when I reported it to the police, they took it very seriously.

Just wanted to say I had the same thing happen to me just over a year ago. I had been awaiting a parcel worth over £300 - some of it was urgently needed by a customer who I had sold onto so I was keeping an eye on the tracking system. Suddenly at lunch time the computer screen advised me it had been delivered and signed for - I though what???!!!! - like am I missing something?!!LOL!!! I looked at the sig and it was nothing like mine!
I rang up and complained and the manager said he would have to wait for the driver to get back. The manager rang much later like 6pm that eve to say the driver had said that a lady had answered the door, signed and taken it. I was so puzzled - then it turned out the consignment slip was smudged and it had gone to the wrong door number. Well just as I thought things couldnt get any worse - I rang my neighbor (being new to the area) who advised that the lady who lived in that house had gone away on holiday the day before! We rang the son who confirmed this and said there was no way anyone would have been at the house to open the door. He kindly went and had a look for me at his Mums house and luckily it was still there on the doorstep.
I was so angry - not only had the driver forged my sig but he had lied about the what had happened to the parcel too. I had only just moved up from London (where it almost certainly would have gone missing) to a village which is the only silver lining on the cloud. I pursued an appology but never got one. The driver (Aziz) is my driver when I have a parcel from the craft company and we laugh about it now but I dont trust him.
Take it up with the parcel company - I wish you luck and every success. I went into full details about what happened to me in the hope you can state that these things do really happen to the parcel co.
Take car - chin up.

Very often the postman around here Either forge signitures and just post the item. The whole system is open to Theft from the Postman. Go to your local Sorting office and DEMAND to see the manager and explain that you we're not in and the signiture has been forged. If nothing is resolved after a week or two then go to the Police as it is Thieft!

I must be having my very own Friday 13th today!
It took me a stupid amount of time to go to sleep last night, my alarm clock failed & daughter got a call this morning by one of the staff I pick up to take to work 'what time you coming' etc...sounds of retching in the background...'oh thats just my mum & sister, they got a tummy bug'
Anyways..off I trundle to fuel up the car & top up the air in my tyre's only for the valve to break on me...nooooooooo, empty the boot of all the stuff to get spare wheel, its wrong size, damn, forgot i had 4 new wheels fitted an age ago in different size...poo..damn, blast etc etc.
AA man (yes I got them out, gotta make the most of my membership) drove me & the defective wheel to quick fit.. wasnt too much of a sting really..about £40 but the morning gets worse...
Mum of employee I was supposed to pick up then rang, employee now chucking up, so we're short staffed for the job I'm already late for *sob* One good thing in that situation was that at least I hadn't picked her up & had her chuck up in my car
I arranged for that job to be put off till Monday now, I've come home, am tired, I ache but hey..I can ring parcelforce.........
I did... & I got sick of hanging on listening to crappy organ music interupted every 10 seconds by a recorded voice saying 'we will be with you shortly'
You know what...I'm gonna try & chill today, stuff the housework (which I really should do seeing as I'm not at work)
I think I might do some online shopping, retail therapy like lol and natter in the forums today coz you're all so nice in here & the cyber world is far better today than my real life world at the mo... I NEEEEEEEDDDD caffeine

Candy and Meddling well done for communicating and trying to sort this together - Auction/online selling at it's best!!
Parcelforce are making a habit of forcing signatures and leaving stuff on people's doorsteps.
For a while I sold new goods (still some leftovers listed here). Everything got sent by my wholesaler with parcelforce. Big stickers all over the boxes saying if there is any external damage check contents before signing. My first consignment from them had a huge whole in the box and was left on my doorstep. Contacted the company before opening it in case they wanted to take me any pics before checking the contents (luckily everytihing was there undamaged). Both they and I complained to Parcelforce. Next consignment was left on my doorstep unsigned; again we both complained. I suspect the driver had a telling off or a warning not to do it at my address at that point, because he came to the door rather grumpily a few days later with a parcel and told me: "sign here then woman"!
Lo and behold 3 weeks later I got another consignment from my wholesaler just as I was about to get into my car - I actually stuck the box in the boot of my car rather then taking it back in - I offered to sign and he told me that wasn't necessary.
I checked all 3 tracking numbers online and all 3 had forged signatures.

However, my regular postie (letters and small packets) would never do anything like it. Just leaves me a card and I'll pick it up at the local PO. I only seem to have this problem with parcerforce.

Sadly there was nothing on my doorstep when I got home at lunchtime :(
I have checked my side path and my back garden.. nothing. The phone number sends you around in circles with multiple choice option numbers on your phone keypad but just keeps directing you to the website. I tried picking an option which didn't relate to the problem and although it rang..it rang for ages without being answered (with the recorded voice saying please hold..music...please hold etc etc)
I can only sit & wait a reply via email as it could end up costing a stupid amount to keep phoning them.
The seller is experiencing the same problem & going out of his way to help me & I'm grateful of that

I fully understand your feeling of frustration. I too tried to phone with the same result. However, a complaint on their website did result in a response within 24 hours. I think both you and the seller have to remain very active on this one, i.e messages every few hours to RM. In the process of sending your messages make it clear that you will involve police if necesarry (spelling?).
The whole idea of sending items by trackable means becomes a joke if Parcelforce does this and it really needs to be stopped.

Fully agree with you on that one Ken. This practice really needs to be stopped. In this case we cannot tell what happened to Candy's parcel - whether a postie walked off with it or whether it was left on her doorstep and someone else walked off with it, but the whole idea of sending parcels by trackable means becomes a joke and irrelevant and a waste of money if this is the normal practice.

Candy,
I haven't seen your other thread - maybe I should go and look for it. I can understand your reaction and judging by your seller's comments he can too. It is horrible to "feel ripped off", although in this case the seller did nothing wrong and the blame lies wholy with Parcelforce. I think it is a natural reaction with auctions sites to suspect the seller first of all.
Chill out and have a nice glass of wine or a long bath - whatever helps you to relax!
I have had customers upset over a lot less then £30.
Someone recently bought something of me forr 99p, which she was hoping to use as part of a Valentine's present. It got delayed in the post and I had all sorts of messages from her, varying from polite to angry. After continous communication I refunded her after 4 weeks, because it still hadn't arrived. Lo and behold, 2 days later I got an email saying that it had finally arrived; the packaging was filthy and soaked, but she could make out the date that it was originally send and could I please send her another invoice so she could pay me again.

Not just Parcelforce either!
Not so long ago we were awaiting delivery of stock from Netherlands, couriered via DHL. Traced the package and one day it stated Delivered ~ really? I hadnt received it, so chased up DHL (after searching for ages trying to find a phone number on their website which is NOT user friendly at all), and was told it had been signed for so enquired as to the signature on the delivery sheet, andit had been simply signed as *a2b*!!!! I was fuming as that is NOT anyones signature, but was told that you can sign the delivery note in any way you choose, so I sarcastically said, while breathing flames, *so if i want to sign a delivery note with Father Christmas that is ok is it?* to which I was told YES, as long as they receive a signature that is fine!! What bull****!!!!!!!!!
anyway after several days of ranting and raving and getting no-where fast, it all turned out that the delivery driver couldnt find my address so he had left it at some random house and of course wherever he had left it had seen it was addressed to *a2bCrafts* so had simply put a2b on the delivery note ~ mind you, i still think the driver himself hadnt bothered to deliver it anywhere, but had simply signed for it himself and got caught red handed on this one! We did eventually get our delivery, after about a week of complaining and constantly phoning up DHL and think they were just sick of having us ranting and raving at them, but the order was over £300 worth.
The next time I had to sign a delivery note my signature was *mickey mouse* lol........made the delivery driver laugh when i explained to him why i was suddenly Mickey and he said that you should only sign with your normal name/signature, and have since been told that elsewhere too, but done it to prove a point and just hope the same bloke had to check the signatures back at the Depot (this was another DHL delivery but a different driver ) and was hoping someone would call me to say what i had done was illegal, but alas, nothing ever came back to me on that!
Every time we order from this supplier in Holland we cringe as DHL take solong to get the stuff to us (takes 2 days from date of order for it to arrive in UK yet takes another week or sometimes more for us to actually get the goods!)
Hope it all gets sorted out for you and you get a satisfactory outcome, and think the idea of contacting Watchdog is well worth pursuing ~ even if you threaten them with contacting Watchdog thats sometimes enough to get them moving pretty sharpish!!
Best of Luck anyway x

Ouch, I used to work for DHL in South America, where the regular postal system was totally unreliable. That was 25 years ago though.
I have heard complaints about them before; I suppose you get it with all the delivery firms nowadays, as there is an ever increasing pressure on the "man at the bottom of the chain" from management at the top of the chain to "perform". However, I don't consider drivers signing for deliveries as performance - rather a gross lack of it!

I just really do not understand why all of the courier firms/delivery drivers etc dont get issued with Satallite Navigation systems in their vans/lorries etc ~ I am always getting phone calls asking where we are as a driver from some firm or another cannot find us!! We are on the main road, its not like we are tucked away down some cobbly little lane or dirt track!!
I would be lost when driving to unknown places without my Tom Tom, and think ALL delivery firms should have these installed in their vehicles. My husband works for himself and his van has a Garmin system installed in it (think thats how its spelt) ~ surely, the initial expense of getting these installed would outweigh all the incorrect deliveries, the complaints and the frustrations that not only the customer feels but the drivers themselves must get so wound up when they cant find addresses!
But one thing to point out ~ all of these firms are run by MEN and me being a woman, what would i know ~ lol

When contacting parcelforce customer services do not use the 08708501150 number it is charged at a higher rate than normal, telephone them using this number, it goes to the same line the number is 01915127003. Trust me this works. It also works for other companies as well, what I mean by this, is, on letters you receive from banks, sky, ntl, water companies, if the number os 0845, 0870, 0871 don't use them, look for the number that says "if calling from abroad call, ************* it will normally begin with +44 change this +44 to a single 0 then the rest of the number.
Also, another cheaper way to call NHS direct out of surgery hours (when your doctors are closed) call the normal pratice number, then 85% of doctors surgerys will then put your call through to NHS direct without any higher price charged to you, also the good thing of doing it this way is that it puts you through to your nearest NHS direct call centre.
Just thought I would share these tips with you, it saves you loads of money each year.

Yeah and the paypal one works too, at least it did when I last used it.
The only problem with some of them is that when it becomes too well known the companies change the numbers and all you get a recording saying 'this number is no longer in use, please call 0870......'
Then you just have to back and try another of the numbers listed but let the site know that the number is no longer viable and it saves someone else from dialling a wrong number.

In the past I worked for a firm which contracted DHL to collect packages from the factory three times a day and deliver to the other factory at Crewe and return Crewe's packages to us. One of the Directors figured it was cheaper than running our own transport department.
After many missing packages, and well packed parcels arriving smashed up, we concluded DHL stood for Drop it. Hide it. Lose it.
The "experiment" lasted 3 months, and then we got a new Director, and went back to delivering our own goods.

If I'm out, my postie sometimes puts recorded delivery letters through my letter box without a signature. Handy for me not having to go to the post office to collect them, but they shouldn't do this when someone has paid for it to be recorded.
I've had a problem with a buyer recently who gave me an incomplete address. It turns out that they wanted it to be delivered to their work address which was a school, but didn't put the school name in the address, just their name and the road. If it had been their home address, the postie might have recognised the name and delivered it. Unsurprisingly, it didn't turn up, although I was disappointed that the post office couldn't trace it and return it to me. The buyer is expecting me to refund them, or send replacements. I normally do, if the item is lost in the post, but I don't see why I should refund for something which was lost because they gave me an incomplete address.
I used parcel2go once and they lost the parcel. They're as bad as feebay with sending standard template emails which don't relate to your query, so I won't use themm again.

Raindrops ..you're a blummin star thank you
When contacting parcelforce customer services do not use the 08708501150 number it is charged at a higher rate than normal, telephone them using this number, it goes to the same line the number is 01915127003.

I used to work for DHL when they were just an international document carrier. Was quite impressive in those days. Had a few free flights out of them. I was in Venezuela at the time and the deal was that I would travel to Miami without any luggage - my luggage allowance was taken by their bags. I could then travel back with my normal allowance; it used to be a great opportunity to go on a shopping spree! Nowadays it's part of a German company and I think it's possibly the courier I've heard most complaints about since I started selling online.

I got my call... depot chappie said the driver couldn't remember what he'd done with the parcel. I replied that it hardly fell into a crack in the back of the van or something coz it was a flatcreen monitor...bit big to just get lost really.
Anyways...he gave me a direct number to give to the seller to contact him at the local depot & apologised.
Am awaiting seller to update me but he is at work so I've gotta be patient too

Anyways...seller going to claim.. hope it all goes well for him & they don't dispute it

Is there a Main Body that Overlooks the Post office? Like Oftel, Ofgas that sort of Body! Very often Things get popped through the letter box that are supposed to be signed for (But they are not) And The person sending it is paying 65p more for the signiture! If everyone complained every time this happenned they (The PO) would have to put a stop to this practice amonsgt Postmen/parcel farce Of signing (there own scribble and I know it goes on)!

Trouble is... I think a lot of buyers that trust their postie are quite happy if postie still leaves it. I've got a parcel waiting for me at my sorting office now but cannot go get it as my car knackered :(

Might as well of bought another blummin car. This one has cost me more in repairs in the last month than the car is worth. If it all happened in one go I could of scrapped the car & bought another one cheaper... ah well... such is life *sigh*

Bumping this coz I got my monitor today whoooohoooooo yippppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
After a few hiccups along the way, me seller posted overnight express out of his own pocket (thanx matey) to ensure it arrived today.
Hope his claim with the couriers gets sorted soon ...speaking of which...I gave the courier the third degree this morning hummph...well I hadn't had my caffeine fix let alone my nicotine at that time
Feel a bit bad now coz she said although it's her area she wasn't the one delivering that particular day.
But good news anyway...to the people that wanted the update/final outcome...here it is
To those that offered advice & support throughout...thank you thank you thank you
mwah mwah mwah
can ya tell I'm in a brill mood today *grins stupidly*
